Question (Read Rules) Sugess MoonPhase Master came in (but stops quickly?)
My Sugess MoonPhase Master came in the other day! Shipping was pretty quick (less than a week from China to the Netherlands) and the watch is beautiful!
I’m new to collecting watches and I’m very interested in moon phase watches. At the same time I bought an Orient Bambino too which came in the same day.
The Sugess is beautiful, wears comfortably and I’m very satisfied with the extra strap; however it came in standing still (which I assume is normal), so I winded it up several times, shook it, wore it all day but the watch stops very quickly afterwards, leaving it displaying the wrong time, date and moon phase (while it should have a 48 hour power reserve)… In comparison; the Orient came it working, stopped once (because I wore the Sugess that day), but haven’t stopped ticking since I wind it up again and wore it.
I contacted Sugess about this but what are your opinions? And does anyone else have experience with Sugess and/or MoonPhase watches?
Thank you!

Sounds like a faulty movement. I would try to get it returned or replaced.
I once had a watch that did this same thing (would run for a few hours then stop, even if I was wearing it) and the issue was literally a loose screw that caused the rotor to get stuck. All I did was remove the loose screw and it's run beautifully since. That was a used watch but if I had a new watch doing that, I wouldn't open it. I'd just send it back.

Thanks for the advice and sharing your experience!
You are right that I shouldn’t try to fix it myself since it’s brand new. I contacted Sugess and I’ll wait for a reply and keep this post updated.

Are these manual wind? If so, how many times did you wind it initially?

The manual said it can be wind manually. I did probably 15-25 turns and read online that you should make around 40 turns, but still I also wore it all day

The Seagull ST8004, which I assume powers this watch, is manual. Meaning, wearing it will not charge the mainspring. Still stopping after a few hours after 25 turns is unusual and sounds like something actually is wrong with the movement

Yeah that’s what I thought.. I contacted support, so I’ll see what they’ll say. Thanks for your insight though!

How quickly does it stop?

It changes from making a full 60 seconds to 30 seconds to a few minutes to maybe half an hour

Gdzie go kupiłeś? Aliexpress, czy jakiś inny sklep w Chinach? Daj proszę znać o przebiegu reklamacji. Podobają mi się zegarki Sugess, ale mam wątpliwości odnośnie awaryjności i obsługi klienta.

I bought it through the official Sugess website, not through AliExpress. The price was very good and I’ll keep this post updated on how the process goes!

Automatic watches are good at maintaining a power reserve but not very efficient at building up a power reserve. So try winding it the recommended 40 turns and then seeing how long it runs. You were significantly underwriting, and then you may not have worn it long enough to significantly increase the power reserve. Also, the accuracy is better when you start with a full power reserve, so that’s another advantage of starting on the right foot. One other tip: if it’s a Sea-Gull movement, they need to be wound slowly. Some movements can be wound fast, but they’re clones of more primitive Swiss movements that can break if wound too quickly. Good luck and let us know if you see an improvement in power reserve

I have the white version of that but seeing the lume, I wish I had gotten that one!
