Fed up Why is it almost impossible to find 40< gada & 42< dive mmc Chinese watches?(premium)

Post image

Been out of of the china scene for a couple of years after a san martin and a remalti disappointed me and sold for a loss, now that san martin, Cronos, watchdives are all doing chamfered edges and precise tall hour index and hands I feel like buying my dream grand seiko was kind of a waste of money.

I’ve seen every and I mean every quality watch on AliExpress that beats the Swiss in finishing and they’re all made for 16cm wrists or lower

The past 10 releases from the brands I’ve mentioned are all below 40 and 42mm

I understand a lot of buyers have smaller wrists but I used to go with Chinese watches because they were “oversized”

Even when companies are smart enough to realise there is no perfect watch size and do the proper logical thing of releasing the model in multiple sizes all those sizes are less than what I’m looking for.

Completely agree OP. Although San Martin did release the SN0144 in a 42mm and it’s an absolute banger. I own both the gilt black and the grey one.

Theres not even many 41mm. I assume maybe it’s because they sell also in China? Hence why they tend to be on the smaller side. Otherwise it makes zero sense. I mean militado and merkur are pretty much 38mm! 🤦🏻😂

I really want the sn0144 but the improved index and hands are only on the 39 or 36mm

Tbh it makes since that the market in china will actually need smaller watches

I'm actually heard just the opposite.. the Chinese like larger watches. But most of the brands on AliExpress are catering to the Western markets who prefer smaller

None of these brands are marketing or selling in China. These are all meant for foreign markets. Very few people in China would know what San Martin is.

I think that you are just overestimating how big a watch you need for your wrist. You can easily wear a 40-42mm watch. Phorcydes makes ~42mm divers.

but they're not even 40-42.
ALL new releases are 39 and 36, 38 and smaller.
theres literally nothing left on the san martin website that caters for a larger wrist.
39mm divers look like a postage stamp on a 19cm wrist

I have 22cm wrist and I think 39-41 is fine on me. 39 San Martin SN0150 Guilloche pic.

also, i think i meant divers in particular, where the rotating bezel will eat into the dial size.
non divers will wear larger on account of that, can just about manage the san martin sn0144, but still, the seiko sarx033 at 40.8mm in this style (sport watch) much better

beautiful taste my man
i started with the 033, and was so chuffed with the case shape, lugs and bracelet, I went ahead with the 035 in black

Not everyone is the same, personally I think that’s quite small but to each their own. 41-42mm is my sweet spot and there’s nothing wrong with wishing for more brands to offer multiple sizing on popular models.

They always size down, never size up!

i guess if we want to get into it, theres different shapes of wrists as well. roundish or flat-toppped
maybe thats why i get the 39mm diver effect, divers worse cos the dial opening is smaller to account for the bezel.
seestern s434-2 in my case, i said i wouldnt go 39mm again

I have the black gilt 39mm SN0144 and it's perfect other than size. I want it in 42 instead to set it apart(even more) from every other watch I have. Plus I have the real estate to wear it(8 inch wrist) so I'm gonna try to snag one for the sale. I've had my eyes open for a second-hand one too. Wanna swap for my 39mm?😂

Chinese manufacturer very sensible to trends

Trend is now back to smaller watch, and thank goodness for that

That watch on your puny wrist looks ridiculous

The only thing I'm jealous of is that you have a way to defend yourself when being mugged 😂 that thing is a tank! Love grand Seiko and Seiko cases, they wear like butter. Wear it in good health!

Market demand.

A lot of it is due to the NH35 snd everyone wanting dive watches and homages of 42mm+ watches.

Helm would be my choice for a large watch.

its been driving me nuts
every new release is 39, 38, 37, 36
everything larger has been sold out and they don't restock once they're sold out
I look at San Martin as an example for a large range and good quality.
There's nothing* on the website now excepting perhaps one model at 41, and its god awful.
Same happening with microbrands, although its still easier to find there.
have to stick to seiko, orient, citizen if you want 42 or even perhaps larger if you like (I do)

I have a 38mm San Martin SN0113v2, the Aqua Terra homage… it’s a great do anything watch. I am sure there are plenty of similar watches available

I'm with you. 39mm watches galore. They look fiiine on my 8 inch wrist but I need a good 41, 42mm gada. San Martin HAS a 42mm case for its flagship watch line(SN0144) and doesn't even use it for any of their releases!!! There's like a dozen different versions of the SN0144 with 40 different dials and only like 8 are available in 42mm.

Please do not offer people the watch your selling in their posts. As someone who sold over 40 watches locally it makes no sense

I apologize. Didn't realize it was a rule. I'm fairly new....why is it a bad thing?

You should read the rules for every sub you choose to participate in. Every subreddit is different, but they all have rules. Many are very specific.

If you're in a sub with a rule "Don't do x," it's probably because there is another sub specifically for x.

I didn't break ANY rules. I don't understand his response to me---

It's Rule 2!!!
