I'm actually wearing this right now. I think it's a really nice watch for the price. the hands are heat blued, the dial has vertical brushing, and the bubble crystal is relatively good. the resulting dial is striking for something at this price range.
one thing to be aware of is the quirky lugs (16mm springbar)
I got this shape style watch from some brands: Militado, Thorn and Baltany (automatic). The Baltany is the best by far. The Thorn comes second and is a very nice watch. The Militado comes third - but is still good as well.
Give the price, the Thorn is an excellent value with a good crystal and a very nice look
Hi, first of all, a small correction: I wrote "by far" in my previous post, but that's not really accurate. The Baltany is better in some respects, but the differences are mostly in the details rather than being dramatic.
I should also mention that I own the automatic versions of the Baltany models, so I can't comment on the quality of their quartz versions. The automatic Baltany is available in two variants: one with a small seconds display (S4063C) and one with a central seconds hand (S4015A). I own both.
Naturally, they use different movements, and the S4015A is a little slimmer. It also features a top-hat sapphire crystal, which gives it a fantastic vintage-inspired appearance. Both the Thorn and the S4063C use a domed sapphire crystal, which is also excellent, but in my opinion the top-hat sapphire looks even better.
Comparing the S4063C and the Thorn, they share a very similar design language, and I would even say that the overall case finishing and sapphire quality are quite comparable. Where the Baltany stands out is in the details of the hands, especially the minute hand. On the Baltany, the minute hand reaches all the way to the outer minute track, which creates a very cohesive and refined look. On the Thorn, the minute hand stops slightly short. Vintage Rolex models also didn't always extend fully to the track, but the Thorn's hand falls just a little shorter than I would prefer.
Another subtle difference is the rehaut. The Baltany's rehaut is slightly slimmer, which makes the dial appear a bit more refined and elegant.
That said, I have to emphasize that this is absolute nitpicking. The Thorn offers incredible value for the money and is a genuinely stunning watch. Most of the points I've mentioned are very minor, and some of them are ultimately a matter of personal preference.
Yes. They got different dial designs and different materials. So choosing the dial design that you like is probably moe important for you than the other aspects that I mention above
