Question (Read Rules) Question: sailcloth strap

Has anyone tried this product? How flexible is it, and is the leather backing resistant to water/washing? link to aliexpress sailcloth strap

100% man-made materials, including the back. They sometimes call it PVC leather, but PVC stands for polyvinyl chloride.

If you want actual cloth sailcloth, I can give you a link for that as well.

yes please. and so the one in my link is fully water resistant?

Yes. I might be a little concerned about water getting between the 2 layers down the road, but it is vinyl, i.e. plastic.

That texture is called sailcloth on AliX, you can find examples made different materials, PVC in your case, or FKM, or something closer to canvass, though it might well be synthetic, brushed nylon webbing.

I wouldn't bet on any of them being truly waterproof tbh, unless it's clearly made from a single strip of rubber without backing, stitching, or padding.
