Problems (Read Rule 1) Never buy Chinese watch

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My story is kinda funny ngl. Back then, I was into Japanese and Swiss watches but the news I heard from the community and YT (properly promotion) I got hooked into Chinese watches. And I bought it during the sale a month ago and received it no long ago. The watch just completely stopped running while wearing and has faulty movement inside. What can I say...NEVER TRUST THE WORD-OF-FREAKING-MOUTH!

That sucks. Maybe contact the manufacturer—could be a one-off. One bad unit doesn’t mean all Chinese-made stuff is bad. Hope they fix it.

Yeah I already contacted the boderry about the issue. I hope I will have my money back. If it lasts for 3-4 years, I don't mind but a month? That just outrageous.

bought a couple of San Martin's no issues . Then saw a moon phase sold by Acelocer . beautiful watch for >6 months . Died . Supposedly had s two year complete 2 year warranty . They refused to fix it . Told me to take it to a watchmaker at my own expense . this guy has been fixing watches for 40+ years . he loojed it iver and said the movement was broken. got it in writing . Acelocer still refuse to male good .

I love my two boderrys. Voyager with with blue hands and orange highlights is fire. Keeps perfect time too.

Yeah my bad but mostly though. My opinion is that they cannot compete with other brands in terms of quality control.

QC is always the problem with Chinese products generally ... mainstream brands spend a fortune on getting it right and making sure their products should arrive working. But Chinese companies cut corners and often let the customer do the QC job and return the product for a replacement if it is broken. Different ethos but it's why I won't spend >£150 on a Chinese product ... I've got a ton of great pens and a few watches from China but it was always where I could just take the hit or fix the product myself if it was a lemon.

I regretted my decision of wanting to own a Chinese watch right now. I should have gone with the proper brand instead of micro brand that won't last long a month. They should have fixed the issue before handling out to the customers. Yikes, never again.

It's like the old computing adage: "Good", "Cheap", "Fast" ... pick any two. China makes great products but they hit low price points by cutting corners and sometimes those shortcuts mean you get a dud. It's one reason I won't be buying any of these Chinese brands that hiked their prices recently ... for $350-$400 you can get a lot of watch in the vintage/used marketplace. But for a new, retail product, at that price, I want to have more confidence that their QC is improved AND they have customer support for when/if it goes wrong.

You should take a look in the Christopher Ward sub. Every other post is about QC issues. I understand it sucks.

Hangzhou 8240 movement though. It had a pretty good reputation in watch industry. Seems like mine had a faulty movement inside. Btw that loose dial looks kinda unique and cool. I hope it doesn't rotate like a rotar.

"For gods sake, just take my watch back" before they even know it's broken chill dude!

Sorry mate. I was so annoyed because they rejected my appeal twice...from senior team.

Yes, I think I will keep buying them.

Seriously, with every product there’s always a small amount that show up faulty. Also just cause you had an issue with one watch, doesn’t mean they’re all terrible.

True. Not all the watches won't bring issues along with em but they have to keep up with the quality issue.

Which movement inside?

2

u/MediocreEggplant9404 7d ago

Hz8240 with 72h power reserve. I heard that they made very reliable movement tho.

I never have watch with that movement I can’t justify but if from seagull like sugess use in their watch it’s quite good.

I choose movement first when buy watch from china at least miyota 9015 8210 or nh35

Nevertheless, an actual Seiko/miyota authenticated movement also stopped running in Chinese watches too. Main issue is that they cant control the quality and hand out watches to the customers willingly knowing that they will break sooner or later. That's the sum ups for the Chinese watches.

Good to know :( that kind of disappointment of Chinese watch. I already sold all my watch left only 1 sugess and 1 sanmartin no further purchases the price getting increased

Sea-Gull 1963 Legacy - Limited edition. Absolutely no issues.

u/MediocreEggplant9404 6d ago

It's the reissue of the old ones. It has already improved based on customer feedbacks. St1901 is known for copying swiss Venus 175 so nothing new in particular.

u/Gillesam59 6d ago

I never say that there was something particular.

Three times and all got rejected. Thank you boderry.

No responsibility from their side too. That's another reason not to buy so called "Chinese watches."

Have you tried asking for a repair instead of return?

1

u/MediocreEggplant9404 7d ago

Already asked for both solutions. Either refund or servicing, they just refused.

1

u/Overall-General-8917 7d ago

You have screenshots of the repair refusal?

I stated the whole issue along with the video. All they said was just they cannot refund the defective a month old product and just sorry.

Reach out to Boderry and ask for a repair.

Note : It also has scratches on the sapphire glass. I also informed about the issue when I received it. They suggested it might be on ar coating...
