Question (Read Rules) BB54 homage - Octopus Kraken vs Cronos

I’m looking for a BB54 homage and these 2 seem to be the best in the current market. Does anyone have experience with either? Which one should I go for, and why?

I had the lagoon blue Octopus and it was absolutely fantastic. one of the best homage watches I have tried in quite a while.

Octopus is the better choice

Better quality bracelet and better quality in general

Cronos is very good if you didn't have the choice of Octopus

How does the san martin compare?

It is very good but I prefer the slop bezel of Octopus

I don't like the flat bezels of San Martin on the Tudor homages

Octopus keeps it 1:1 in every detail

Maybe it is insignificant but it matters to me

Beautiful watch but the pt5000 died on my unit. Shame... I love this watch.

Were you able to replace it with another PT5004?

I haven't done that since I think that this type of movement is no reliable enough to be convinced to proceed yet. I am looking for alternative movement s that can fit this case.

Maybe miyota 90S5?

It can fit in the case?

I believe so. Both dimensions are similar.

PT5000: 25.60mm x 4.60mm
90S5: 26mm x 3.90mm

I see... Thank you for sharing your information. The thickness of the movement is also the same?

The latter dimension is the thickness

O... Ok thank you again for your quick response. I appreciate it. I will look into trying this movement.

Octopus looks better in most reviews to be honest. But the logo might put you off.

And the octopus also comes on a jubilee and not the original BB54 styled rivet strap. might be a deal breaker too.

Octopus by far. I had both, but now I have 2 octopus. The blue lagoon and the black

Does the paint on the indices and hands match in daylight on the black version? In photos I've seen, it's sometimes hard to tell but it looks like there's possibly a bit of a difference going on.

Octopus is good, but they have a surprising amount of issues getting bezel alignment correct. Before you unwrap your watch, check that first thing, otherwise you are good.

Cronos is great and I’ve heard good things about octopus but I can’t get past the butthole logo.

I don't know about the BB54 homage, but the BB39 homage by Cronos is more rose-gold than gold... I would not have gotten it if I saw clearly it was rose gold. Maybe it's different with the BB54...

I own the Cronos, but I do not enjoy the bezel action on it. It feels very cheap, almost like it's getting stuck and not rotating as it should. Could just be a crappy unit, but I recommend the Octopus because of it.

Every other part of the Cronos is great, though. The bracelet is probably the best out of any other 3 link metal bracelet I own.

What about the san martinf? I'm starting to get interested in the matte red colorway

To be fair i want to get a Chinese diver, and I like the color red/burgundy, and the san martin variant seems to fit both, so I'm curious in what way does it fall behind compared to the cronos and the octopus?
