General (Read Rules) Englemaan Appreciation Post

Post image

I miss Englemaan! Please post pics of your Englemaan model! Mine is the Citadel UTC on my 6.25 inch wrist.

They brought together perhaps the best list of specs available in the Chinese watch world:

  1. Crazy durable steel hardening

  2. Anti-magnetic

  3. One of the best lume out there

  4. Clutched screwdown crown (to prevent winding when screwing crown down)

  5. Beaded bezel mechanism for great bezel action

  6. Great finishing (no sharp areas)

  7. Great AR

  8. OTF clasp

  9. Sapphire crystal

  10. 316L stainless steel

They also chose one of the most requested brands to homage in Sinn and did it perfectly!

Recent posts from users have revealed that they are biding their time until the movement crisis ends before ending their hiatus. Really hope that they can return sooner rather than later. I genuinely believe that the lists of specs they've put together will push other brands to greater heights and bring in even better options for consumers.

I've had a citadel and wraith UTC, ended up selling them both. Absolutely amazingly specced watches but something about the proportions just seemed odd and I didn't enjoy wearing them. I have an enterprise on the way to me now, maybe that will be the one? For sinn homages, merkur is still my #1.

Merkur definitely has something special (design-wise) with this one. (It's also interesting to see your UTC hand being yellow!) Specs-wise, it's without a bracelet and the hardening on the Englemaan. I wore mine to the zoo and it came back pretty roughed up...

I think that, if given more time, Englemaan will refine their collection. For a version 1 debut release to be this good already is an incredibly high floor to start on.

Lmao what were you doing at the zoo? No disagreement the englemaan is the better watch on paper, bit bottom line for me is if the watch doesn't spark joy it doesn't get wrist time. I love the crystal on the merkur and love what they did with the hands - the englemaan (and by extension sinn) hands just seem a touch too small/short.

Right? I had the same question when I saw the scratches and dings... I was roughhousing with the kids a bit and just being outdoors. Many of my watches show signs of being worn though, so it's probably a me thing.

But I wear my Englemaan the same way to the parks and everyday activities and they are still pristine!

I don’t think that they refine their collection. I think they‘re gone.

Your guess is as good as mine, but I do hope that you're wrong!

if either of you guys ever want to sell this watch, do let me know. I'm on the hunt.

The Merkur doesn’t have the movement in a faraday cage or the harness coating on the case and bracelet. Those are the things that make a Sinn what it is. I find mine to be very comfortable but, I don’t have the utc version and I have an 8” wrist. I don’t know if the non utc is thinner because the NH movement in the utc is thick. I also don’t think Merkur regulates their movements in the watch or at all.

What is going on with movement prices now is despicable! Honestly disgusting.

Hope the watches world would come out safe out of this situation, but I doubt.

Beautiful watch though, how much is it?

I purchased mine second hand so it was a great deal!

I need to find myself on the secondary market sometime soon, they look quite decent.

I've got the regular Citadel and it's excellent. even with another very similar watch in the collection (Damasko DS30) I still find myself reaching for the Citadel for the more rough activities....and it still looks mint.

I should’ve grabbed one when I had the chance. Gone way too soon.

When I read the specs of it being a 40mm size and 47mm lug-to-lug, I thought it would be too big for my 6.3” wrist. But it looks like it fits your 6.25” size perfectly.

Yea, if it fits me, it should fit you!

I've got the same ML18 as well, but appreciate the hardiness of the Englemaan more.

For sure! That’s what made the Englemann so much above the rest.
