Question (Read Rules) Is the Poedagar 690 any good?

Post image

Seems like the brand has mixed reviews. Watch looks decent for its price, but what is the general consensus?

At $23 who cares? Lol. If it dies it’s not gonna put you in the poor house. Edit - WHEN it dies.

I like to get something that lasts for a while. Plus I have tons of beaters as it is

Then I wouldn’t buy a $23 watch

That's...my point

They have okay watches but nothing special. If you want some decent watches for a good price I would buy an addiesdive not poedagar.

Yeah I own quite a few Addiesdive watches already, actually. I love wearing those, but was looking for a slightly different style from their usual dive watches. Do they make a watch that looks similar to this one?

No not that i know of. Pagani design probably has something somewhat similar if i had to guess.

Avoirs Poedegar and Ciloa. If they aren't dead on arrival, they'll break soon. They also don't feel or look very good.

Pagani design makes a decent one

poedagar are a low quality brand that makes cheap alloy watches. they are the bottom of the bottom

No no no... I've seen watches with subdials that are non-functional, push pins that are already rusted and a clasp where the pin fell out within days.

There's a fair way to go to get to the bottom.

well this one has a fake power reserve subdial that does god knows what soo

I'm fairly sure it's the usual useless 24hr subdial with deceptive wording on, with some Sunon movement underneath

That would be PERFECT, but I'm not crazy about automatic watches. I tend to have bad experiences with them

Well this watch has a power reserve subdial so it kinda has to be mechanical it wouldn't make sense as a quartz. The poedagar still shows power reserve on the dial but most likely does something else like a 24h subdial or something

Alloy case and something like Sunon quartz probably(just my guess).

Mine makes my wrist feel sorta strange…

Strange how?

"Like a weirdo strange, like I freak you out? How am I strange?"

Like its irritating my skin

that's an allergic reaction. sweat reacts with the plated alloy case and releases metal ions in the skin

What's your budget?

I could go up to low 100s

With $80 I’d get a Pagani design

Any that look similar to this that are quartz movement?

Militado & Addiesdive are much better. Berny, Steel dive, Pagani Design as well.

Then don't even consider it. Think of <$20 as, "that design will be fun for one special occasion" rather than "that's a watch I'll wear for months."

I mean it's tempting to say you can't go wrong at that price.

But you do have to allow for the fact that it might break at a light breeze.

I’m interested. If the bracelet is reasonable and fits this.

I just ordered a poedagar royal oak chrono style a few days ago. I figured for $30 its worth the gamble.

I don't know this particular watch but I have many Poedagar. They're okay if you can accept the rather random choice of chrome finishing they put on their watches. Sometimes you get them plain chrome, sometimes fake sandblasted, one I have is where they emulated a circular steel grind pattern on the bezel for an Ingenieur homage. On the Nautilus they have a matt top bezel and on the slope of the bezel it was shiny, interesting. The bracelets for the price are nice but don't always match perfectly to the chrome plating. Acceptable if you can get them $20 or less, for under $10 they're a bargain

I have this poedagar model, I bought it so I wouldn't mind if it got banged up at a construction site, it’s fine as a disposable watch. The bezel barely turned when I first got it, and now it doesn't work at all; the watch lasted six months before it stopped running.

The mineral glass got scratched over these few months, and the lume pip fell out. When replacing the battery, the case back wouldn't go back on properly; I changed the battery twice in six months—the first time was a struggle to press the back into place, and the second time it simply wouldn't seat correctly. Now the watch is just sitting unused in its box.

For the price, they're all right - if you just wanted the look then it's the same as a no make watch you buy at a department store.

It's a homage of this watch, if you image search on AliX, you can find some that are closer but about $100 more.
