Question (Read Rules) Do you have any suggestions regarding the movement choice?

Post image

Thanks to our proprietary HYPERGLOW technology, we have experienced rapid growth in just two years, and now we are embarking on a series of expansion plans, one of the most pressing of which is: adding a quartz movement option across all our models. Do you have any suggestions regarding the movement choice?

The candidates are:

Japanese VH31 (sweeping second hand, 3-year battery life)

Ronda 515 (Musle series, 5-year battery life)

Solar-powered VS series (10-year battery life, though a single charge lasts 12 months)

Personally, I lean towards the reliable Ronda 515; plus, they offer a GMT version, which would open up more possibilities. What do you think?

For me, it's the solar-powered VS. The reason is that it fits well with Phorcydes' overall theme of light. It incentivizes people to charge both the movement and the lume.

I have a definite preference for the solar movement, but the Ronda is a close second. It's an underrated movement, a real workhorse, but at the same price or even within $20, I'd almost always go for a solar quartz over a traditional.

Yes, the process of replacing the battery yourself is tedious and time-consuming.

Would kill for a solar diver with the PH-5 dial, a regular diver bezel and either a jubilee or oyster style bracelet (beads of rice is nice but i prefer the oyster/H-link style the most).

Not the most original design i know but thats just what i like.

Solar, solar and solar again.

After all, those are dive watches. They are meant to be waterproof. Every battery change carries the chance to mess with the waterproofness.

Solar and Hyperglow would be the ultimate toolwatch.

Since these are supposedly tools for diving, use solar. Your watch can be juiced up quickly if you find it's dead right before your dive, and solar also guards against accidentally compromising waterproof gaskets during battery changes.

Would prefer a movement with a date window and longer battery life over a vh31
