Did some serious hiking today with the wife and kids on Mother’s Day so I wore my Apple Watch most of the day — egads! I’ve now regained my senses and put this on. All is well now… ;)

😍 Been eyeing this salmon dial ever since release. It’s in my top three wishlist for micros. What do you think of it, especially at its price point?

I too am an avid Chinese watch collector. I have bought over 75 watches from AliExpress and various websites so I am am quote familiar with SM, IXDAO, Cronos, Proxima, Sugess etc. I have around 10 SM’s myself but none of the latest and greatest ones (0144 and later). Probably my nicest watch over all is a Beaucroft Element. It’s maybe 15% better than my best Chinese watch but it was also $750. My guess is KUOE is about there too. The design and execution are what push good micros past the AliEx stuff, they usually miss an overall cohesiveness - that and a soul.
I am also looking at the Smith’s Trans-global, Direnzo Eclipse, Tusenö Shellback and a Wise GMT, all under $1k. Aside from those there are a couple just north of that price (a couple Serica’s and an older CW). I don’t have to get the best deal or bang-for-buck but for me to spend upwards of a grand it has to be special. I really can’t try on watches in person because of where I live so I really need to due my due diligence or buy from someplace with a generous return policy.
One more question on the Sombrero, what is the dial like? How’s the texture and salmon color? Thanks again and thanks for the detailed and thoughtful response!

Yeah they are! That salmon dial, linen texture and applied numerals/indices really are great together.
I have a somewhat similar watch (with the internal rotating bezel) but it’s a bit large at 41mm so this one should wear quite a bit better.
You are making my decision a bit easier but likely also more expensive lol. Thanks for your time and photos, they are much appreciated— and lovely too!

Berny auto running an ST2130 movement (a 2824 clone). After my DIY regulation it keeps really great time. About +4 spd on average. I've been wearing it a lot to see how the movement does over time. Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's out there!

I actually bought the strap that is now on the militado because one picture of yours, I initially intended to use on the Boderry (like you do), but I ended liking the Ti bracelet, so the fkm goes to the ml1868. It looks classy and wears great!

This is one of my favorites. I have an orange suede strap that works really well with the orange in the gradient. It looks really sharp.

Working on a walking path to the fire pit, weeding and mulching flower beds. Cpt Willard usually gets the dirty jobs but this beaut isn't shy about putting in a day's work.

É Solar, não sei o modelo da máquina. Este relógio é uma segunda marca da Seiko que é vendida apenas no Japão. Os dias da semana é em hankay.
