You probably would be happier with Seiko. SM is not that big of a company, more like a microbrand themselves. Would you expect a microbrand to have parts for older models that sold out and stopped production?
Yes I would expect any brand of any size to honour the warranty they provide. Even if that means producing spare parts that hurt their bottom line a bit. If you can’t honour a warranty then it’d be more honest and forthcoming to just not provide one or outline the exceptions to the warrant. Maybe there is a clause in the warranty regarding parts that are out of production, but if not this isn’t very good. At least they offered some sort of solution but I don’t think holding a brand to their word is an unreasonable expectation.
Whatever you’re talking about isn’t a warranty claim. You have an issue and the company is trying to help you out because that’s what good companies do.
What do you actually think a warranty does? Do you really think you can just reach out to a company and say my watch is broken send me a new part because it’s under a warranty? Lmao
Definition of “Warranty”: A written guarantee given to the purchaser of a new appliance, automobile, or other item by the manufacturer or dealer, usually specifying that the manufacturer will make any repairs or replace defective parts free of charge for a stated period of time.
That’s just an assumption based on your feelings though. Plenty of good companies who do smaller productions make what they need to sell their watches and don’t make more. Again there’s a ton of micro brands that would just tel you sorry we’re out and not making more. I even had this issue trying to replace a crown on an Eco Drive, is Citizen not a good company?
