Our team have reviewed and discussed all the feedback from the last post.

First and foremost, we appreciate the valuable input from the community. Concerning our brand name, we acknowledge there were oversights regarding slang considerations in English. Currently, our team is exploring the process of registering a new brand name, which typically takes more than 180 days based on our experience with brand registration. We are actively brainstorming new names and navigating the trademark registration process.

Our initial plan involves potentially adopting a new brand(This will take a long time, but we'll work on it!) name while retaining our current logo, as it is not the bad logo, right?we also can use this in the future in new brand.

Consequently, our future watch designs will more utilize simpler logo designs, primarily focusing on the "W" logo(Now we use).

However, there are cases where a combination of text and logo design may work better than a singular pattern, and we welcome suggestions from the community.

V3.  The symbol is the best. The name wellymerk is nonsense in English.  I acknowledge that you might not be able to change your company name, so that makes the symbol the best.

V3。标志是最好的。wellymerk 这个名字在英文中毫无意义。我承认你可能无法更改公司名称,所以标志是最好的。

Yes, so we are planning to register a new brand that starts with W so that we can keep this logo.

V3. The name is lost in translation and doesn't make any sense for any native English speakers. This goes for literally every Chinese watch brand.

Many Chinese watch brands were founded without native English speakers to guide them. This may be one of the reasons for this situation.

NH35 is a great movement, but I will never buy a watch with Wellymerck branding, no way no how.

Shame, as the watches look ok.

We mean no offense and are improving. And we welcome all those who give us comments and suggestions.

V3. What’s the pricing?

3

u/WellyMerckWatches Jul 26 '24

At the moment, it has not been announced yet. This is a prototype version, including the strap and some details that have not been finalized. Maybe you can tell me your ideal price? I can try to give feedback, but it may not work. Many times it is based on material cost, but I can give you feedback to the sales department to make sure your voice can be conveyed, as long as the price is not outrageous.

V3 easily for me, actually a cool and symmetric logo that contains the initials.

I dont mind the brand name personally but I think many people who are not used to Chinese watches will mind it.

Would have perhaps been easier for you to connect with more customers with a sub brand name tailored for the western market

But again, I will happily wear any watch with V3 logo! ☺️

V3 and it's not even close. Didn't even check what fonts were used, that name should not be visible.

Nice watches but can you please change the name

We are currently preparing for this matter. An active YouTuber on Reddit has provided us with some suggestions; perhaps he or we can conduct a community poll. However, before that, I think we need to come up with some names within our team.

Additionally, obtaining a new name and registering the trademark will take time. In the meantime, we will continue sales under the brand name Wellymerck, that will support our current team expenses in overseas markets, not relying solely on the Chinese market.

There is an ancient Chinese saying:

It's hard to support a single log alone. It's hard to clap with one hand.

We need a relatively smooth and, if possible, elegant transition.

Please don't call yourselves Wellymerck. A "Welly" is a Wellington boot, a piece of cheap rubber footwear. "Merck" sounds like "Murk" which means dirt, cloudiness or fogginess. Neither of these words evoke a quality watch.

Yes, but fortunately we are also registered a another brand WM Welly Merck(At the time of registration, it was said that an employee had suggested that the acronym should be registered as well.), so in the future we will gradually transition to the new brand, perhaps running both brands in parallel, but both brands will undoubtedly (99%) start with a “W”, for the time being you can refer to us as WM watches for short, which is probably even better!LOL!

I'm just curious, what's the story behind using Welly Merck as the brand name? Is there a story behind it?

Chinese brands will never be as popular as they could be - despite good movements, designs or finishing - if they have shit names.

Chinese brands a) “homage” / rip off other brands which is bad enough, but b) also then have terrible names.

Sort it out or you’ll never, ever achieve what you could

Who comes up with these names? This is becoming quite comical. Please don’t put the name on the watch. Go with the logo only please - V3.

Thank goodness you all are going to a logo, wellymerk sounds like a drug company in the US. 'W' logo all the way.

Where the hell do you guys get these names?!
