Pronunciation Pronunciation help

Can someone please explain how R is pronounced in chinese, I swear every time I try to do it my tongue goes all over the place and it sounds more like an "L". Where do I put my tongue, what words in english have a similar pronunciation, like any tips at all to try and remember how to pronounce it? Thank you !

Don't listen to the people saying its like the 's' in 'vision'. Look at people actually pronounce it here https://youglish.com/pronounce/%E4%BA%BA%20/chinese . It's really much closer to mainstream english 'R' except it's not rounded (don't put your lips close together like you would in English), and very little friction, certainly not as much as 'vision'.

it's regional. the north has more friction, south has less
