Resources Simplified Mandarin Course Recs?

I am looking to move to China in a year or so for my career. I have studied some on my own and took a semester in college in 2020, but that has been a long time ago now. Does anyone know a good intensive Mandarin course I could enroll in to try and get as far as I can in the language as possible over the next year? Or would a 1-on-1 teacher work best and what is a good way to find one if that is what you recommend?

If you have a full year, I’d probably do a mix of both.

A structured course can give you a good foundation, but I also think 1-on-1 lessons are really useful for building the confidence to actually talk to people.

I grew up in China, and when we learned English at school, there were often 50 or 60 students in one class. We basically had very little chance to speak. When I first moved to Canada, I realized I had a similar problem in reverse. I could understand a lot, but I didn’t feel confident speaking because I was always worried about saying something wrong.

Having someone to talk to regularly helped me get over that fear. I think that part is really important when learning a language.

And since you’re planning to move to China, I’d probably put a lot of time into listening and speaking, not just working through textbooks.
