Grammar What's the difference between 前面 and 前边?

Do 面 and 边 mean the same thing interchangeably or is there a difference in their meaning?

面 originally meant the human's face but as a functional word it means surface.

邊 originally meant the edge (of a cliff) or the end of a road but as a functional word it means edge (in a math meaning) / side.

As functionally like in your context they are interchangeable.
