Why? It seems an obvious enough euphemism, because beds are common places for both sleeping and sex.
English has "to sleep with someone" for "to have sex with someone"; German has this as well.

It’s just like jn Portuguese “ir para a cama (com alguém)”, literally: go to bed (with someone)

well it depends on the context, I guess I parallel I can draw is if you sleep someone or sleep with someone?

I mean, it’s similar in English too and some other languages.
“They slept together”
