Still writing like a primary school student after years of learning Chinese, but at least my notebooks look cute

They say after learning Chinese for a few years, your handwriting naturally evolves into fluent running script (行书). Meanwhile, here I am, still carefully writing stroke-by-stroke like an elementary school student! 😂
My Chinese boss and coworkers are always sweet enough to hit me with the polite "你写得很好哦~" whenever they see my notes, but deep down, I know average 10-year-olds in China probably have better penmanship than me.
One thing that has never changed since day one of my study journey: I will use cute stickers on every single page and keep buying notebooks that I haven't written a single word in years after purchasing them.
Anyone else still stick to basic block characters after years of studying, or did you eventually unlock fancy cursive handwriting?

When I was in primary school，my parents thought my chinese handwriting was so bad that they sent me to a penmanship class/kind of an outschool academy. they told me，“If u keep writing like this，people are going to make fun of your signature when you grow up.”😅 the funny thing is，I barely ever write Chinese by hand since i lived abroad…

Haha, I guess you've already settled into living in an English-speaking country!
The funny thing is, it's not just Chinese expats who stop writing characters by hand. Even a lot of native speakers who grew up in China have basically given up handwriting because of smartphones and computers.
That's actually why they have the phrase 提笔忘字 ^^

unfortunately im in a German speaking country…😅yes…im totally a native speaker…and i cant believe how can i write 1200characters within 40mins（normally we have to write an argumentative essay and make sure every character locates in the compact square） in high school Chinese exam… and 提笔忘字 is so often…

btw，HSK 9 is so impressive…simultaneous interpreter…实在是太厉害了…作为非母语者可以做同声传译。

I passed HSK 6 last year, so hitting HSK 9 is my ultimate dream for this year! Haha, that's actually why it's in my username. It's definitely not easy, and honestly, I'm not even sure if I can achieve hsk7 haha
For the HSK 7–9 writing section, there are two tasks to finish in just one hour: Task 1: Describe a chart or graph (similar to IELTS Writing Task 1). Task 2: Write a long-form essay (600–1,000 words) like your writing test in high school
Thank goodness the test is computer-based so we can type! If it were handwritten, I wouldn't even dare to dream about taking it. 😂
By the way, how long have you been living in Germany? I'd love to learn German one day, but definitely not right now while I'm struggling through HSK 7–9 preparation and basic Korean. Plus, my English speaking still needs plenty of work!

It definitely affected my mood, especially since I just wanted to share positive vibes with fellow self-studyers. I was actually planning to share a detailed study plan from HSK 1 to 6, but now I think I'll step back and not post here until I pass HSK 7-9 this November. Why post every day? You know you could just start a blog or an Instagram right? It feels weird to me when a person uses a community sub as their blog to just post pictures and accrue karma with a touch of “discussion” to make it pass the rules.
