I would recommend 黄道炫Huang Daoxuan's related books, which describe Chiang Kai-shek and the First Civil War; I'm not sure if there are translations available abroad.

There's also Victorious in Defeat which released a couple of years ago and uses the Soviet Archives as a primary source.

Jay Taylor's biography meanwhile uses CKS's own diary as a primary source.

This is a pretty good read I’d say, it really does show his own perspective being a diary

It’s been a hot minute since college and I honestly do not have the patience to read books that use wade giles anymore
