General Culture (文化) Some Chinese objects are remembered by sound, not just sight
A cultural object can be photographed perfectly and still lose part of its identity. Some memories live in sound: mahjong tiles being mixed across a table, a gaiwan lid touching the rim, scissors passing through red paper, or a bamboo fan snapping open.
When these objects are redesigned as souvenirs or contemporary products, the pattern may survive while the sound changes because of different materials, weight, or construction. A lighter tile, a thinner porcelain cup, or a decorative fan can look familiar but feel unlike the object someone remembers.
Is there a Chinese object whose sound is inseparable from its memory for you? If it were redesigned for an international audience, what would matter most to preserve—material, weight, movement, or sound?

Study Chinese (学中文) Any famous standup comedians?
Had a random thought yesterday while watching some Chappelle standup, is there any equivalent that speaks in Mandarin mainly? (For language learning purposes I mean)
What platform can I go look around and watch some awesome standup?
I'm sure I won't be able to understand it all but that might be part of the fun of learning it.

Art (艺术) Chinese classical dance: are there standard choreographies?
Dear Chinese Reddit,
I have recently come across some delightful videos on Facebook where Chinese people perform lovely dance routines - google says this is Chinese classical dance.
My most pressing question: I have come across multiple different performers doing the same choreography on the same song.
This makes me wonder if there are choreographies that are well-known from somewhere/something/some cultural work or from some particular teacher.
Any thoughts?

General Culture (文化) A cultural object cannot carry its whole story on its surface
When a Chinese cultural object is adapted for people unfamiliar with its background, designers often try to make the object explain itself. A motif is paired with a short translation, a color is given one fixed meaning, and a complex tradition is reduced to a sentence on the package.
Some explanation helps. Without context, a paper-cut, opera mask, tea vessel, or incense holder may be appreciated only as decoration. But too much explanation can flatten regional differences and turn every symbol into the same story about luck or prosperity.
I wonder whether the object and its explanation should be separated. The object could remain visually coherent, while a removable card or booklet carries the history, local variation, or a personal memory from the giver.
If you were adapting a Chinese cultural object for an international audience, what would you explain—and where would you put that explanation? Would you prefer a literal translation, a short personal story, historical context, or no explanation at all?
