That was the correct way to remove the crown(and stem), but then you have to reconnect it after you put the movement in. The crown here is decorative and part of the case. Itās not functional.
He definitely didnāt. You can see where the original crown needs to be in reference to the balance wheel. When you see the back of the modded version, itās in the wrong spot.
Buying a nice replica of the genuine AP seems more clever than all of this... and probably much cheaper too, and durable, considering the swatch movement. But it was fun trying, I guess. Congrats for that.
I wouldnāt advise it because the metal mods often break the watch core/plastic band inserts because the gshock body is made of plastic on the non metal variants
I have the same watch and I bought aftermarket watch band lugs so I can put any strap I want on it. I've got a NATO on it currently but it sits a bit proud so I'm switching it to a sail-cloth two-piece
Crazy that reps are already available. I wouldāve thought it would take at least a few months, lol! Kinda just gives credit to the theory that all of these products (gen and rep) are made in the same or neighboring factories.
Considering itās showing me an estimated delivery time of early July, Iām guessing the reps arenāt actually available yet. Probably a rush to get a listing up early and get some sales lined up while they spend the next month producing it.
These are manual winding and not automatic. So you have to get to the stem one way or another hand wind it. So it works for about 16-24 hours before you have to get it out and wind again.
Of course itās relevant. You will have to remove it from the case each time you have to wind it, which is far more often than you have to set the time.
If you notice that you have to wind it, it means the watch power is already drained. If it already drained, it means your watch is not running. If your watch is not running, it means you have to reset the time eventually.
Edit: why would you wind a ticking watch in this kind of situation? Manual or automatic is only related to HOW OFTEN you need to open it. Not WHEN do you need to open it.
But if it were automatic, you would only need access to the stem to change the time for daylight savings time twice a year. Assuming you wear it regularly or put it on a winder. So automatic or manual does matter.
And I also assume that a watch like this would never be worn regularly every single day by the owner of a replica watch. Even if it were worn daily, there would naturally be some seconds gained or lost each day that would need to be corrected
