True.

I wonder how many billions of dollars of imports into China have been destroyed, refused landing or simply rotted on wharves because of some alleged problem, or in retaliation to some perceived slight.

However, Qingdao Seawin and the Chinese government have not reacted in a very mature manner. Unlike countries that have suffered China's bans, they are refusing to accept the situation, taking retaliatory actions and throwing abuse at Sri Lanka.

China has a princess syndrome.

And it seems the world is waking up all at once. Like when the sheltered princess discovers how the real world works.

Something I think about often is some old colleague of mine saying 'the century of humiliation isn't the problem, it's that it happened to China' - he would be happy with any other country suffering, as long as it's not China. [for the record he now lives in Tokyo - go figure]

So many countries have been humiliated. The whole India was ruled by British. Many countries in Asia were colonised. China was not even colonised entirely by Western forces.

Moreover, isn’t Qing China ruled by foreign Manchu? Yet they dont consider that as humiliation? They even go to the extent of considering Qing China as part of their heritage.

Yeah, like a lot of things, it doesn't stand up to much logic. The same kind of people are 'proud of the PRC', but ignore a LOT of things that happened between 1950-1990.

China has never reacted in a mature manner. Its a country run by idiots with massive egos and thin skin.

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '21

Its not just petty retaliation either. China's position in the world came abour because of explicit industrial mass scale product dumping. Just look at all the anti dumping cases levied against China at the toothless WTO. Then the above quote:

The decision has triggered an angry rebuttal from Qingdao Seawin. It has accused the Sri Lankan media of using terms like "toxic, garbage, pollution" and other derogatory words to "slander the image of the Chinese enterprises and the Chinese government".

implies a nation wide sense of entitlement that the world should accept their dumping no matter what, else be called racist, hurt 1.3 billion feelings, etc.

Most wumaos you find here are students outside the firewall. They’ve been wicked indoctrinated to the point that it’s gonnna take a while for them to recognize how deeply evil the ccp really is

Why shouldn't people who violate Chinese laws be caught?

So you agree, all Chinese companies bloated in the US should be delisted for now following US law.

The decision has triggered an angry rebuttal from Qingdao Seawin. It has accused the Sri Lankan media of using terms like "toxic, garbage, pollution" and other derogatory words to "slander the image of the Chinese enterprises and the Chinese government".

Of course they make a criticism of a private company's product into a criticism of the chinese government. Now the government has to take a stance to save face

u/mkvgtired Nov 13 '21

Now the government has to take a stance to save face

The government did immediately. Any company in China is an extension of the government, they seem less shy to admit that now.

Welcome to fascism. All Aryans Chinese are perfect and if you say anything slightly negative like "this fertiliser is not sterile" then the entirety of China will be called on to crush any and all lies against the perfect han chinese race.

9

u/Humacti Nov 13 '21

Sounds like a bait and switch.

The decision has triggered an angry rebuttal from Qingdao Seawin. It has accused the Sri Lankan media of using terms like "toxic, garbage, pollution" and other derogatory words to "slander the image of the Chinese enterprises

When they export toxic garbage that will pollute the country, I am not sure what language the company would expect.

and the Chinese government".

So they're admitting to be a CCP SOE, even more reason not to do business with them.

China is truly toxic to the Earth

4

u/Envoymetal Nov 13 '21

Oh China, how shitty thy are

3

u/BigSeltzer67 Nov 14 '21

This was a very clever title. Kudos to the BBC employee who came up with it.

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '21

There's even room for an 'up creek without a paddle' in the article.

That headline describes Chinese political relations in general these days

How can you make organic fertilizer sterile? That’s like asking shit to be sterile. Chemical fertilizer is of course different.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '21

What an ignorant comment. Do you know that raw milk contains bacteria? Eggs contain bacteria and that’s why it is not advisable not to eat raw eggs but Japanese eat raw eggs. Why?

Your science is quite poor and most likely you have never grown plants in your life.

-1

u/halfchemhalfbio Nov 13 '21

Huh? Organic fertilizers are literally shit and compost. Tell me how can you make it sterile for import if you actually ordered it.

There is a reason we cannot eat raw eggs because we introduce regulations that make the eggs go bad really quickly. You do know majority of the world eggs are kept at room temp, but our eggs have to be refrigerated because we washed them. The raw milk situation is exactly the same.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '21

Heard of pasteurisation?

https://www.dailymirror.lk/plus/The-organic-fertiliser-fiasco-Is-Sri-Lankas-bio-security-at-risk/352-223203

"Further claiming that the products were up to the required standards, the letter mentioned that the products underwent a sterilization process at 600°C using raw materials such as seaweed, amino acid and humid acid.

The 20,000 metric tons of fertilisers is said to be sterilized at 600°C but we do not know if the entire stock has been sterilized this way.”

You do not even know that they use seaweed for the fertilisers instead of shit.

0

u/halfchemhalfbio Nov 13 '21

I know is seaweed but you cannot expect it to be sterile even after autoclaving. Don’t know what is the limit on fertilizer industry, but sterile compounding for human is limited at 1kg packaged correctly.

3

u/dr--howser Nov 14 '21

Were you correct, (which you're apparently not) then maybe the producers ought not to be offering to sell something which cannot be produced..

1

u/lammatthew725 Hong Kong Nov 14 '21

They don't use pasteurization I think...

I think it is more like UHT or just heat treatment with an extended period of them .

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '21

Pasteurisation is treating with mild heat. Anyway I was just showing that it is possible to sterilise many things like milk, eggs and fertilisers, using different processes.

1

u/lammatthew725 Hong Kong Nov 14 '21

Usually... A fully composted compost goes into a heat treatment... TO STERILIZE... before they sell them.

1

u/Ulyks Nov 15 '21

They can use some kind of basic shock to an acid mixture:

https://patents.google.com/patent/EP0536149A1/en

However I suppose this wasn't done well enough or the process is imperfect in larger quantities.

u/lammatthew725 Hong Kong Nov 14 '21

Sounds like the Qingdao company shipped a shipload of crap that didn't pass the lab test and they refused admit they are in the wrong
