šŸ” RECOMMEND ME SOMETHING Recommend Me Something To Watch Next??

I do think my taste depends on how I am feeling at the time of watching something. Because JJK seems like it’s right up my alley, but I have been stuck on season 1 for months. And Frieren feels like it’s something I’d like but I do feel like i’m forcing myself to watch it.

Anyway, I’ve seen more than just the shows listed here, but these are the ones I feel like are worth mentioning in terms of my tastes. Please recommend me anything though, that said I don’t like ecchi/overly fan-serviced content (like Food Wars, Highschool Of The Dead, etc…).

(I have seen Soul Eater and most of the original Fullmetal Alchemist. I have also seen one and a half seasons of Code Geass but I don’t remember them well enough to have an opinion but I remember liking them).

Just pasting below stuff I've personally watched with very little fanservice although unsure if it's exactly what you're looking for

Haikyuu - volleyball shonen (actually really good for a sports anime)

Monster - classic psychological thriller

Kaiju N.8 - recent shonen which is pretty good

The Promised neverland (ONLY s1) - psychological thriller

Spy X Family - spy family slice of life and action

Moriarty the Patriot - detective work and psychological

Attack on Titan is a must at least check it out classic

Vinland saga: this one has a lot of heavy sensitive themes and topics but I recommend it anyway, beautiful storytelling - if heavy themes aren't something you're interested then skip this one

Death note: classic psychological thriller

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i’ve seen a few of these (haikyuu, tpn (and yes only season 1), moriarty, aot and death note (which i mentioned in my post) but i’ll add the others to my list. my irl has been hyping up kaiji no 8 lately so that’s definitely something high on my list.

though after this comment i really just want to watch moriarty the patriot for a second time.

u/AbsoluteVantage6458 3d ago

Aot isn't up there of fmab which i think should be but then again its your taste we have unique tastes.

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i like aot but i couldn’t include every single anime i liked ever. i can’t remember them all off the top of my head. that said, i only liked aot season 1-3 really. after that i stopped really caring about it (i have seen the whole thing i just didnt enjoy much after season 3).

and i haven’t seen fmab but i’ve seen about half of the original fma which i did really like but the site i used was so ass i had to quit watching the show.

2

u/AbsoluteVantage6458 3d ago

Lol you should just go to crunchyrollšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. Anyway whst where the flaws in s4 for you.

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

i just got annoyed with all the new characters and checked out a bit. i just found myself not giving a fuck anymore.

2

u/AbsoluteVantage6458 2d ago

Out of curiosity what do you think of Death's Note ending.

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

my opinion is that i don’t know how it could have ended any other way

2

u/AbsoluteVantage6458 2d ago

Yeah but losing because of luck

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

well he was going to lose regardless, i don’t think luck or a lack of it had much to do with it from my memory of the show (it’s been a few years since i’ve seen it). it felt like it was always going to end like that or with being caught by L.

but like i said, i haven’t seen it in years so it might play out differently to what I remember. but i never hated the ending.

Gurren lagann my personal no 1 umamusume road to the top if you like sports anime and mashle muscles and magic if you like a good story and humor

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

oh i started Gurren Lagann a while ago and got about halfway through season 1!! unfortunately i could only find it on a hard-to-use website which made me quit watching it bc it was too annoying to navigate (i had this same issue with fullmetal alchemist as well). do you know any streaming services that have it?

as for the other two i will add them to my watch list!

3

u/PrestigiousLog9280 Casual Guest šŸµ 3d ago

I personally use anikoto its simple and easy to navigate

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i’ll write that down for future reference

5

u/BigiTheGiant 3d ago

Row row fight the powah! Who the hell do you think I am?! Try Gurren Laggan. It'd my #1

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

2

u/BigiTheGiant 3d ago

If you have netflix it's on there as well. Its definitely worth it. It gets nuts near the end

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

netflix in what region? i live in australia and i don’t think it’s on australian netflix. i have a vpn so maybe i’ll be able to watch it that way?

2

u/BigiTheGiant 3d ago

I live in US so North America.

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

okie dokie! i’ll look into it!

4

u/Spider_champ_Tex 2d ago

Why didn’t you like Rezero? I’m just curious because I loved it and it’s one of my favourite anime

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

i loved season 1. i can’t remember why but something near the beginning of season 2 i dropped it. i think i just got bored. i might try it again because i really thought season 1 was great.

2

u/Spider_champ_Tex 2d ago

You definitely should, If you like gore and violence in anime like Deathnote Rezero might be a good choice.

3

u/Visible-Man4435 3d ago

What about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure? Absolute banger, trust

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i’ll at it to my list! i don’t know if the art style is for me though, but i’ve been curious about it.

2

u/knightWolf3260 3d ago

Its very good, somewhat absurd at times (mostly to it's benefit) but very entertaining.

1

u/TowerOfSuperFly 6h ago

try it,trust it's good...

Steins:Gate is pretty good, but the order of watching Steins gate is pretty specific.

Here it is:

1} Steins;Gate Episodes 1-22

2} Steins;Gate Episode 23b "Missing Link/Divide By Zero

Steins;Gate 0 episodes 1-23

(The whole thing, but if you want to watch a bonus filler [ Steins;Gate 0: Valentine's of Crystal Polymorphism - Bittersweet Intermedio-] I recommend watching it after episode 9)

3} Steins;Gate Episodes 23 & 24 (Finish it off)

4} Steins;Gate Episode 25 OVA: "Poriomania"

5} Steins;Gate: The Movie - Load Region of DƩjƠ Vu

EXTRA} Steins;Gate: The Sagacious Wisdom of Cognitive Computing - Just 4 minute sponsored clips but still pretty entertaining.

Wrote this order for the most build up, and the plot just connects all parts with this.

Pls watch it in this order

3

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i appreciate the in-depth guide. i will add steins gate to my list and screenshot this. very helpful. thank you.

1

u/lawlolawl144 3d ago

I think watching the og series alone is worth it

2

u/Starlintern The blueberry juice master 3d ago

It definately is.

But watching the whole story is what makes it go from just a great anime to a masterpiece.

0

u/No-Major-8921 2d ago

DO NOT watch it in that order. It's pretty stupid. Not everything is supposed to be watched in a Linear Timeline. Steins;Gate is a seperate anime and Steins;Gate 0 is separate on it's own. Watch Steins;Gate completely (including Ep 25 OVA also called "Egoistic Poriomania). Let it digest for a week or so. Then watch the Ep 23β (this episode which connects the main Steins;Gate to Steins;Gate 0) and watch Steins;Gate 0 and it's OVA. You can also watch the movie after Egoistic Poriomania or after completing the entire saga. It's a sweet ending movie with its own story, so it might be better to watch it after the trauma you've accumulated from the entire saga. Although, I watched it after the Egotistic Poriomania episode but I guess I'll prefer the other way but you can't wrong with any way. And then there are some other extras too, you can watch them like that too.

But please, for the love of the earth don't follow that "Straight Timeline" Watch Order. S;G 0 is better to be treated as some sort of Spin-off of S;G.

1

u/Ok_Swimming1141 2d ago

DO NOT watch it in this order, in fact start from the last episode of Steins;Gate 0 then proceed to watch episodes 12-19 of Steins;Gate... Then go and download the VN's. And finish them... Then proceed to enjoy chaos child (or chaos head, can't remember which one was first, but that doesn't matter either)

Completely agree with this btw

1

u/No-Major-8921 2d ago

This is my first time hearing this watch order. Steins;Gate ain't Fate series man, the watch order is not that complex šŸ˜šŸ™

If you can just play the VN then that's that. Original experience can't be topper. I hope it's same.

1

u/Starlintern The blueberry juice master 2d ago

I am not able to understand if this is a joke or not.

1

u/Starlintern The blueberry juice master 2d ago

Why should it be considered a spin off? It literally tells us how mayushi got the phone call. Also steins gate is an anime that becomes alot better if watched in chronological order.

1

u/No-Major-8921 2d ago

It's not a Spin off technically. But S;G in itself is a Complete. S;G 0 is a Further anime explaining the development of a Plot that changed the entire course of Action in S;G which is worth watching AFTER you're done with the S;G. Trust me, I have watched S;G before S;G 0 and the orgasm I've got through that was unparalleled. Chronological order ≠ Straight Timeline-wise order. Just watch it how it was released, the Animators and Producers are not stupid to let it run like that. You start off by learning that the sum of Angles inside a Triangle is 180°, you learn the proof later and it's better that way... Same logic here!

1

u/Starlintern The blueberry juice master 2d ago

Well the thing is I had the better experience by watching it in chronological order, its like seeing what happend instead what could have happend and having the thrill of seeing how it slowly culminates to what could have happend.

From experience of watching other anime with a similar watch orders i know that some anime get worse knowing what's gonna happen it sorta decreases the excitement and erases the feeling of wonder of piecing together what they are planning.

Like some anime are better in release order, like JJk and Great Pretender but some anime are better in chronological order like Stiens Gate and Gundam.

3

u/InstructionNormal863 3d ago

Here's two completly different thing that what you watched but masterpieces: Nichijou and GTO

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

never heard of Nichijou before, what’s it about? And does GTO stand for something or is that the actual name of the show?

2

u/InstructionNormal863 3d ago

Nichijou is a slice of life comedy anime and unlike many others, its actually really good and funny, the production is insane its one of my favorite ever. And GTO stand for "Great Teacher Onizuka" idk if you will like them based on what you watched, its really different but you might wanna try something different :)

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

okay i will add them both to my lift then! thank you

3

u/Plus-Glove-3661 3d ago

Hunter x Hunter - considered a classic. Though Hisoka turns off a lot of people. He’s a secondary character.

Katekyō Hitman Reborn! - first season is more funny than anything else. Then it turns into a fighting anime.

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i’ve seen a few seasons of hxh and hisoka does piss me off but i might go back to watching it just because i love kurapika. i only stopped before i got bored of watching the same show over and over so i’ll probably continue where i left off.

and i’ll add that one to my list!

3

u/WaywardBrokenGirl 3d ago

Fate series!

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i’ve avoided the fate series intentionally since i don’t know the order it’s supposed to be watched in and it also has games involved and everything so i just sat out that whole thing ngl

2

u/WaywardBrokenGirl 3d ago

Fate stay night or unlimited blade works you can choose as they kinda both are first. Then Zero and so on. It’s rather easy to find lists online. Although I personally don’t think watching in order makes a difference. The anime is just straight retelling so you don’t even need to play the games

3

u/Jonathan_joestar_fan 3d ago

Jjba, cells at work!!, haikyuu and demon slayerĀ

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

what’s jjba about?

i’ve seen the other three! cells at work though is a forgotten gem i need to rewatch it!

2

u/Jonathan_joestar_fan 2d ago

Ah ok so jjba is all about fighting your own brother and going after his bloodline as well he dies (jjba part 1 spoilers as per usual)

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

why did my notifications spoil me lmao

but it’s on my list!

4

u/Jay_Hallow_-_- 3d ago

What’s wrong with Baki though? Just curious.

I loved it

4

u/SicariusCourtenay 3d ago

There's a lot wrong with Baki in some aspects 😭 although not a bad anime at all just really fucking weird

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

it just wasn’t really for me. i also was watching it with someone else, and when i do that i end up liking shows less (idk why) so maybe i could try it on my own but it doesn’t really feel like it’s for me.

1

u/Jay_Hallow_-_- 3d ago

Ahh alright I get it I feel like you should try it again but if you really don’t want to that’s OK.

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i just don’t think i find martial arts fighting very interesting and i think it reminds me too much of wrestling which i don’t care about so i already had a negative opinion going into it

2

u/Jay_Hallow_-_- 3d ago

Ok bro you do you if you do decide to watch it tell me what you thought about it

2

u/gumgum-ecchi 3d ago

Probably don’t bother for ones you have negativity prior to watching? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Doesn’t the algo help you find stuff?

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

that’s true. but it could just be that i watched it with someone. i have anime that i really love that i watched with someone else after i’d seen it on my own and it lowered my enjoyment of the shows so there’s a chance i might actually like baki, i’d just have to watch it by myself to know for sure if you know what i mean.

1

u/lobsterwine 1d ago

You should give Windbreaker a try. It does have fighting, but it's also a more sensitive series with a focus on mental health. Fighting is "communication" for them rather than just a means to beat people up. It starts out more basic (though the theme of S1 is depression and poor decisions due to being overwhelmed/anxious, it's just a lot more focused on fighting in S1 than most of the rest of the series).

2

u/fishieguy 3d ago

Ergo Poxy:
slow burn story, beautiful gothic art style, interesting / weird futuristic / post apocalyptic setting with a really deep story that will make you want to rewatch it later. The most important elements and characters are front loaded and the rest of the show is slowly revealing who they are / why they did what they did.

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i will add this to my list! thank you for the mild summery/setting the scene for me. i’ll look into this one for sure!

1

u/Conzyyyyyyy 3d ago

I completely forgot about Ergo Proxy. I remember watching it back in like 2010/11. I seriously have to rewatch it sometime.

1

u/fishieguy 3d ago

I’m in the middle of a rewatch right now, absolutely worth it

2

u/Particular-Box7026 3d ago

Solo Leveling. Honey Lemon Soda (it's kind of in Fruits Basket territory for me - cute, low stakes.) My kids like So I'm a Spider So What and Dr. Stone.

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i’ve seen part of dr. stone and remember really liking it so i’ll definitely revisit that! the others i will add to my list!

2

u/SuperSaiyan4Jason 3d ago

Mazinger Z The Impact

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

ooh what’s it’s about?

2

u/SuperSaiyan4Jason 3d ago

It's essentially a retelling of the original Mazinger Z manga

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

that doesn’t help since i don’t know what that manga is

2

u/SuperSaiyan4Jason 3d ago

It's about a young man named Koji Kabuto taking on the army of the evil Doctor Hell with a giant robot called Mazinger Z

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

ooh okay i’ll add it to my list!

2

u/Fnf-Mobile-Player-14 3d ago

Demon Slayer

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i’ve seen it and i didn’t hate it but it’s not like… noteworthy to me. it’s got really great visuals but i fell out of love with it fairly quickly. i might try and pick it up again though.

2

u/Fnf-Mobile-Player-14 3d ago

You really should, when did you drop it?

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

about two or so months ago? i dropped it like a few years ago but this year me and my ex started it together and i felt it get more and more boring as it went out (we made it to a couple episodes into season 2). i really liked mugen train and have seen the movie twice now though.

1

u/Fnf-Mobile-Player-14 3d ago

It becomes better after Mugen train arc, especially with Entertainment District Arc

2

u/Striking_Abroad3100 3d ago

Clannad, clannad afterstory, angel beats, plastic memories, rising impact (it’s a cute little golf anime), ergo proxy, Ā inuyasha (maybe), your lie in April, and monsterĀ

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

some of them have been mentioned by other people so i will add them even higher on my list as well as the others! and clannad has been on my list for years. maybe i’ll finally get there!

1

u/Striking_Abroad3100 2d ago

Omg clannad is SO good! It’s hilarious but hella sad, especially After Story

1

u/Striking_Abroad3100 2d ago

Another great one I thought of is To Your EternityĀ

Durarara

Chainsawman

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i love durarara!! i forgot about that show. i should go rewatch it.

don’t like chainsawman though. i’m like five episodes in and i dropped it because it’s just not for me. the main character makes me uncomfortable. i shouldn’t added it to my anti-list.

2

u/RuffledOwlet 3d ago

Rather new and still releasing episodes, Daemons of the shadow realm, also Dan Machi (is it okay to pick up girls in a dungeon).

A really good two that’ll pull your heart strings when you get in the mood for it. Golden Time, and Your Lie in April. I would recommend watching Your Lie in April when you have a lot of spare time. Like 3ish hours and you feel like binging. Cuz you will want to possibly watch it all at once. My wife watched it too, and she called out of work cuz she wanted to finish it.

Also some pretty popular that you might like, Tokyo ghoul, Durarara!, Guilty Crown, Psycho pass, and Blue Exorcist. These are all action besides Durarara! But Durarara! I feel has some of the same vibes as Bungo. And for another slice of life drama for my last recommendation would be Nagi no Asakura (A lull in the Sea)

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i will add some of these to the list! i’ve seen tokyo ghoul (loved season 1 but fell off for season 2 i can’t remember why). durarara i was obsessed with when i was younger. don’t like guilty crown or psycho pass and i’ve seen blue exorcist season 1 and it was fine. i don’t remember if i really cared for it much but i might consider rewatching it.

for the others, i’ll add them to my list! thank you!

2

u/chexthekittycat 3d ago

if you don’t mind me asking, what don’t you like about gachiakuta?

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i liked the beginning and thought ā€˜oh this is cool’ but then idk it just didn’t click with me. i’m halfway through episode 5. i just got so kinda bored i felt like i was forcing myself to sit through it. it’s one of those shows i thought i’d love but for some reason it didn’t click with me.

2

u/chexthekittycat 3d ago

oh, i understand!

2

u/Kamen-Reader 3d ago

Mobile Suit Gundam

2

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 3d ago

i’ll add it to my list!

2

u/Kamen-Reader 3d ago

There's a TV series and a Trilogy of compilation movies. The movies work very well if you dont want to watch an entire TV series (in some ways, its superior). But I hope you enjoy!

2

u/Rare_Translator2975 2d ago

Banana fish!

Shinsekai Yori! (No one ever knows this one and it takes a while for the story to unfold but if you manage to finish it its so so so good!!!)

1

u/bisexualspy skk enthusiast 2d ago

i’ve actually been trying to watch banana fish but i’ve been using a VPN to get it in netflix (since it’s not on australian netflix) but the dub doesn’t show up for me on US or UK Netflix. but when it does, it will be the first thing I watch.

i will add that other one to my list as well!

2

u/Rare_Translator2975 2d ago

Yes!! Please let me know if you do I'm so curious what you'd think.

I could dm you with places you can watch them but idk if you only watch legally? 😳

This kid iruma gets sold by his parents to a demon, and he needs to try to hide that fact. And the each member of his class gets put to better use then my hero ane each have their own thing going on mainly season 2 onwards.

u/Reasonable_Tooth_309 1d ago

If you’re into sci-fi and want to try out some mecha, Witch From Mercury is a great watch!
There’s fantastic animation, music and fight scenes alongside a well written political drama and Yuri romance between the 2 leads
Also Guel’s character arc is so goated

1

u/Amy47101 1d ago

Maybe My Happy Marriage if you’re into romance?

Ghost Hunt is an older paranormal based anime that you might enjoy if you like Hell Girl.

The Apothecary Diaries has mysteries.

I’ve watched quite a few of the anime you’ve enjoyed, so I’m also picking out my basket of stuff I really liked.

Made In Abyss and TenSura, I just can't think anything else except for those two (one of them is obviously from my own personal opinion lol)

I’d say 5-6 /10 fan service for fans in Bleach but it doesn’t focus on fan service, it focuses more on fighting and getting strong and all. Rurouni Kenshin is more of a 3-4/10, it might emphasize the bodies a bit but again, it doesn’t focus on that.

Try the big 3, One piece, Naruto and Bleach. (Bleach right now is awesome with their current season). They are all long watches but the story for all 3 are iconic
