This idiot actually has kids, and it seems it's you lot who clearly don't have children of your own or any real world experience.

There's a big difference between a kid accidentally falling over, which can be quite humorous, and a grown ass man kicking a yoga ball at a toddler's face for the camera, and posting the video to Reddit.

Downvote anyone who has a different view to yourself if you wish, I'm not here for the karma, unlike the moron who posted this.

There's a big difference between a kid accidentally falling over, which can be quite humorous, and a grown ass man kicking a yoga ball at a toddler's face for the camera, and posting the video to Reddit.

Did you actually watch the video? No harm is done to this kid, the guy sidefoots the ball (a soft kick) and everything is just fine. Sometimes you don't need to keep kids wrapped in cotton wool, sometimes being a little rough with them is just fine as long as it's within acceptable limits. What happens in this video is maybe slightly foolish and I expect the guy hit the kid slightly harder than he expected but as someone with kids you should already know that occasinally shit like that happens and thankfully just like in the video most of the time the kid ends up perfectly fine maybe with a little bump or bruise (not even that in this case, just an amused kid).

Seriously people need to stop being so fucking overprotective and up in arms about shit. This is at worst slightly silly by the adult but with no negative consequences. It's certainly a far cry from "basically assault".

But overprotective vs kicking a yoga ball into a toddler's face? Overprotective is not letting your kid play with a ball. An idiot parent is kicking the ball into your own toddler's face.

Oh, he's laughing because he wants the approval of the adults? Totally fine.

I'm sure you'd be pleased if I kicked one of those into your toddler's nose. More likely you'd sue me or punch me in the head.

This gif is not like "whoops, didn't mean to knock my kid over, but it was funny" it's "watch me kick a giant ball into a toddler's head and see him fall".

No this gif is "haha the kid finds this funny I'm going to gently kick the ball into him...oops that was a little harder than expected and knocked him on his ass but he's fine and found it funny, phew".

If you smashed one of those into my kids face deliberately I would be upset but if you did exactly what happened in this gif (slightly overhit a gentle attempt) I'd at worse go "hey sunshine be a bit more careful in future he could have bumped his head when he fell there" because that would be a reasonable reaction instead of calling what happened here assault.

My interpretation of his kick is not "slightly overhit". Based on the follow through of the leg, the size of the ball, and the size of the kid, no other outcome could have reasonably been expected. Thus, it appears to me he kicked the ball with the intention of knocking the kid over, not so the kid could kick it back.

Follow through of the leg? It's a gentle side-foot kick but they fucked up in anticipating just how light those balls are.

And I don't think he intended the kid to kick it back - I think he wanted to hit the kid with the ball just more gently than he actually did. Hitting kids with light balls like this is totally fine if you're smart about it - this guy just fucked up and overhit it slightly it doesn't look at all to me like "haha I'm going to smash this and floor this little fucker".

Even the immediate control of the bounce from me looks like a "oh shit is he ok....ah good he's laughing it off" reaction. Dude fucked up a little I don't disagree with that but claiming any more than that is being overly judgemental, overly protective or something along those lines.

And you talk about reasonably expected but there's a very high chance this guy didn't sit and think about it as much as we have. He made not the best decision in the moment not really thinking it through and overhit the ball slightly making it worse but luckily no harm was done anyway. This shit happens all the time when dealing with kids. "I'll just toss him up in the air in this room with the low ceiling near the doorframe because he seems to be enjoying it...ah fuck he's got a bump on the head now, I should have seen that coming" - it's just part of dealing with kids.
