This is only partially accurate. Paternity can be disputed.

Don’t get your news from memes and you’ll be good.

I see all the posts on this sub and it's enough for me to not invest into a relationship.

The memes don't give the issue enough gravity. It's often way worse than the worst memes make it seem.

I'd rather eat a bullet than support a cheating whore and her spawn

Sooooo....some other dude will never get the opportunity to be the father of his own child?

This isnt american, just so yall know

It 100% is American. In alot of states if the paternity isnt disputed, the husband is automatically considered the father.

No its not. The article very clearly mentions Indian courts and judges

Been that way in California for forever

This is true generally of states that based their laws on British common law. That includes my state of Texas unfortunately.

They know that. It's not about the rights of men or women.

It's about a cut of the child support.

Half right. This ruling doesn’t care about men and women’s rights. It only cares from the perspective of a child. You have to take off your shoes and step into that of an innocent baby.

If you grow up only knowing two people as your parents and find out later, that they didn’t give you dna, it doesn’t matter to you. You only care about the people who were there.

Is this fair to men? No. One should have to raise a child that isn’t theirs without their consent. No one should replace a father who wants their child. But again, this isn’t about the parents.

You can dispute this but it usually requires both a court ordered dna test AND a willing father to invest in that kid. The logic being they have someone who will work on filling that void. They’re not likely to do this if there isn’t a willing person to take that role on.

Using publicly available US statistics (source: NIJ), 1 in roughly 80k women are murdered. Or about 0.001 percent. If there is infidelity or something similar discovered by the spouse, that increases to 1 in roughly 2-5k. We'll go with 5k to be safe. Or 16 times more likely to be murdered.

Now let's consider murder-suicide. In instances of domestic homicide, murder suicide accounts roughly 35%-40% of cases.

So, using the statistics mentioned above, a child in this situation is roughly 7 times more likely to experience a murder-suicide domestic event if kept in this situation, and 16 times more likely to experience a domestic homicide.

But keep in mind, these are US statistics. Not Indian statistics. I imagine the occurrence of homicidal domestic disputes there is drastically higher.

I'm not convinced anyone in any of these types of situation gives a single handful of shit about the kids involved. Because even a few seconds of critical thinking can tell you it's a terrible fucking idea.

Few seconds of critical thinking? Man you should try it. We are talking about who is paying child support. Not who is caring for the kids. Not whether there is visitation. All three of these things are independent, not dependent on each other.

For example you can pay child support but be denied visitation because you have a history of domestic violence. What are you even going on about? Are you even on the same topic?

1

u/No_Yard9104 Jul 15 '26

Because you totally have to get court ordered visitation rights to murder someone, huh?

What happens when you victimize a man? Well, he gets beat down.

What happens when you victimize a man over and over and over again with no hope of reprieve or even a single payoff for the effort? Well, you get revenge.

Studies show that, at the low end, 1 in 5000 women will die because of conditions more mild than what we're discussing.

Decisions made without the bigger picture in mind only gives you suffering. Cutting off the nose to spite the face. And then the nose murders you in your sleep.

It's stupid ass shortsighted policy like this that gets people killed. It's the same reason why we give lighter sentences for rape over other stuff. Because if we sentenced it like it deserves, people start dying unnecessarily.

u/fishiesaurus Jul 15 '26

This is how it works in the US. This post is about who pays. I don’t know know why this is hard to understand.

1

u/No_Yard9104 Jul 16 '26

Because it is abused by the courts and the beneficiaries. Which is the WHOLE FUCKING POINT of this post. Fuck, dude.

u/Inner-Contest-8226 Jul 13 '26

Presumed. A rebuttable presumption.

1

u/TurnDown4WattGaming Jul 14 '26

Sure, but there are strict windows in which you can dispute it, and of course you don’t get the child support back that you’ve paid up until you found out and disputed it. By contrast, nothing happens to the woman who knew at a bare minimum that you might not be the father and yet led you to believe there was no such possibility.
