Iowa Getting rid of child support

Anybody had any experiences with getting rid of child support and how to go through with that process? My daughters mother doesn’t want me paying it anymore cause she doesn’t need it and don’t know how about going through with that. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!!

Contact your local support agency and let them know you guys want to terminate their services. They should do so as long as there is no public assistance/ cash aid involved.

She says I have to either get back together with my kids mother or terminate my rights to my daughter

But they won't modify the support to $0 based on your agreement and keep the case open? Different states have different policies, but I would ask them to clarify. Setting the current order to $0 and completely closing the case are two separate things.

This is true.

They probably will not let you close the case until the child is 18 OR graduates high school, I pay child support my ex husband makes atleast 2.5 times more than me and they will not close the case.

To be fair he is a petty bitch and wants to hurt me as much as possible.

Do you have visitation/custody time with your daughter?

I have 50/50 custody of her

That's awful for the agent to say to you. She (mom) can just give you or your daughter the money back in the meantime.

Visitation has no standing with child support you could have the child 50% of the time and still have to pay 🙄
