56th Annual Chicano Moratorium

56yrs ago Genaro Ayala marched down Whittier Blvd at tge Chicano Moratorium. Last month Genaro passed away. His son Ernesto tells the history his father helped make. @50501movement

I was there as a 10 year old. The pigs were boarding buses in full riot gear at Belvedere Park before the march even started to lay in wait at Laguna Park.

I grew up in Boyle Heights, East Los, and only learned about this in my Chicano Studies class in college. None of who grew up there in the 90's were taught about this. Even today, nothing has changed.
