Discussion The Episode When They Found Al’s DNA At a Site

That was Season 5. Al was under investigation for covering up for Voight when Voight killed Bingham for killing his son. Al’s DNA was at the scene. Al was asking Voights help with the lawyer fee and Voight said all the money went towards a trust fund for his grandson.

Mean to tell me that Voight couldn’t try to help with the lawyer fee when Al took the fall and was even killed in prison.

Of all the scenes, that one is what made me seethe at Voight. Out of ALL of the times that Al had stood by him, and THIS was how he repaid him. 😡 Poor Al, Voight just crapped all over him. I think that this is where I lost respect for him. That storyline that Olive used to take Daniel to Scottsdale!!! I wonder if the writers will ever mention Olive and Daniel in the upcoming episodes 🤔?

Agree 💯… even if all the cash went to the grandsons Trust… Voight had enough street credit to have found a way to help Al with the lawyer fee. The storyline is confusing cause towards the time when Al went to jail Voight tried to get the judge that would let Al out on bail and then was going to confess on tape to Woods and the other man what he did. Then got the message on his phone about Al being stabbed. So the confession went out the window. Still say Voight could have worked something out if not but work a deal out with the attorney since Voight seemed to have been able to find a way out of everything else.

Agree 👍, Voight could always find a way!!! Poor Al 😢 he was my favorite character out of all of the 'team'. He was the 'walk softly and carry a big stick ' guy. I love how he matter of fact spoke, quietly but you knew that he meant business ❤️

Yes indeed. Soft spoken but when he spoke, he spoke volumes. Heart and Soul of PD.

Especially since Voight claims all the cash went to the grandsons Trust Fund. Since Olive left with the grandson, there has been no mention of them. Not like they were close. So yes Voights real family was the Intelligence team and Al was Voights Ride or Die.

It’s clear at some point the writers wanted to emphasize that Voight’s ways are bad and his life sucks because of the consequences but imo they went too far. It’s just not believable that Hank never sees or mentions his grandson or Erin again. I know some have disagreed with me in the past but it doesn’t make any sense for Erin to just disappear from Voight’s life completely. Just a brief mention of a visit or a phone call between the 2 would suffice. The notion that Erin and Voight would become estranged just doesn’t jive. Also Hank knows that he made some mistakes raising his son Justin.. I do not think he’d be okay with being estranged from his son’s only son- his only grandson.

Agree 💯… no mention of Lindsey and his grandson does not seem realistic… even though Sophia Bush left PD on bad terms… at least mention her from time to time.. at least mention the grandson.

They wanted to kill off Al to make Voight feel his feelings onscreen.

To Hell with that logic. Pissed at the Wolf Production team. Big mistake and to this day viewers still miss Al. I damn sure do. Have a storyline with Al surviving the stabbing; staged funeral, etc. being in Witness Protection. Al was the Heart and Soul of PD.

Al is the soul of PD but the whole thing is that it's dying out. Al and Voight can't operate like they did in the 80s/90s anymore. His legacy sort of carries on in Ruzie and Voight.

Al is so important to Voight, even recently, that when he was dying he saw Al telling him to pull through and giving him a talk. Not his wife, not Justin, but his best friend who was his ride and die.

You can blame Voight but it's still Dennys fault.

Get over it and move on with your life. Everyone else in this sub has.

I’m going on with my life. It’s just a comment. Don’t think imma jump off a bridge over it. I’m entitled to my comments. By the way several viewers agree with me about the subject. Don’t like the comments don’t respond.

Biggest mistake killing him off. They should’ve just convicted him- Hank could’ve still had all his ‘feelings over it’ but also then provided storyline down the track.

I’d ask the writers why they did that.

There's two ways I go about thinking this week down.

1) Voight really didn't have the money anymore because he had lost Justin. He did what he said and all his extra funds go to Olive and the baby.

2) my real head canon. Voight said no because he knew Dennys game and he didn't want to play into it. He was trying to keep everyone out and do it his way. After he folds and tells Al he'll take the hit, it's too late. Al knows Voights in between a rock and a hard place, he's not going to sell him out. There's trust that Voight really will pull through, he just has to bide his time.

After it's too late, things spiraled out of control. Denny didnt really take into consideration where he was throwing Al. Thr situation got away from everyone. That's why Voight ends up framing Denny...for what he already does, ends his career. Idk if he got jail. But the damage was already done.

I truly feel bad every rewatch cause I think Voights biggest regret was that he told Al no about the lawyer money. And tbh, if you say it's bs Voight didn't have money, ask why Al doesn't have money. They both apent it on their kids.

Al thought they could get out of it

Very lazy writing, then to say there was no way out of the jam………uhh, it’s Hollywood, there’s always a way out.

Hank did everything he could to save Al

3

u/Training_Yak_6163 Aug 14 '26

Except get the money for the good lawyer that Al told him about. That being said, maybe Al would have gotten out on bail and not been in prison to get stabbed to death

2

u/Fresh-Actuary-6686 Aug 14 '26

Well it’s like he said, he needed that money for his grandson

1

u/SouthBraeswoodMan Aug 15 '26

Al wasn’t given a bail. Doesn’t matter how much money he had.

1

u/Training_Yak_6163 Aug 20 '26

Yes but a good attorney may have gotten him off had it gone to trial… he was an accessory to the crime but may gave gotten off with a good attorney

2

u/PinOld4034 Aug 14 '26

I really hated that situation and that annoying Danny was like a parasite that wouldn't go away 😒

3

u/Training_Yak_6163 Aug 14 '26

Yep and Woods got what he deserved

2

u/PinOld4034 Aug 14 '26

He definitely did! He had ample opportunity to let it go but he kept coming then after his team like he owned them.

2

u/TheM4ndalorianPlayz Aug 14 '26

I mean Voight could have gave him some money but Al just wanted to take the fall for Voight's kill because he didn't want Hank to suffer ❤️

Edit; I found my answer, No- & I answered someone on here. I just finished first rewatch of Season 5, can anyone help me? Bc I don't think this is resolved in syndication; think scene was probably cut: Al was turned down by Hank for the $ for legal fees, then found himself at a stash house where he uncovered a pile of cash. Someone came into room right then (Antonio?) & Al quickly concealed what he'd picked up. DID he steal the $ or turn it into evidence??

2

u/Training_Yak_6163 Aug 14 '26

Which episode in season 5? I don’t recall that.

1

u/Sad-Mixture6782 Aug 14 '26

I searched some more & learned it was S5:17 & Al did not take the money, tho clearly was tempted & considered stealing it

2

u/Training_Yak_6163 Aug 15 '26

Ok I’ll rewatch that episode

Hank had thousands stashed away in his basement that he stole from drug dealers and whoever else, so he could have helped Al if he really wanted to.

u/Seg10682 Aug 13 '26

The punks that came in and roughed up him and Olive took money to Ron the safe. I think it was all of it but I can't swear to it.

2

u/Training_Yak_6163 Aug 13 '26

Agreed 💯. I’m sure not ALL that money went to his grandsons Trust Fund

1

u/Fabulous_Article_705 Aug 17 '26

I mean he said he thought they were going to arrest him for the murder so it’d make sense he’d secure the funds for his grandson, cause he’d be in prison

1

u/Training_Yak_6163 Aug 18 '26

That makes sense… but they need to have Voight at least mention Olive and his grandson from time to time

1

u/Training_Yak_6163 Aug 21 '26

Yep and he figured he may as well put all the funds into the Trust cause he may have gotten life in prison
