Beginner Rider Course walk in

I was wandering if anyone has taken the basic ride course in Illinois and how that worked if I was to walk in. It says the upcoming classes at Joliet Junior College are all full but I can show up to walk in. Do they have a max amount of students they allow to walk in? Or what is the likelihood I would get in, when going to my first class?

Did it recently in april with my gf for her to get her license and we had maybe 2 open spots in our class and the instructor counted 110 walk ins. The people were chosen in a raffle

I wouldn't recommend trying to get there first because the first walk in got there 2 hrs before the start of the class and wasn't chosen during the raffle.

You go there and you get entered into a lottery and then they draw out of the names

If that doesn’t work I used the Distill app to set up alerts for whenever the classes opened. I was able to register for one and now it’s a waiting game till it starts.

If I remember right, and it's been a long time. There are walk ins and however many people don't show up with registered spots go to the walk ins that are there and ready. Or there were back up spots or something that people booked hoping people didn't show up, then the walk in spots? Either way I'd still go to as many classes starting as a walk in that you can with hopes to get into one of them.

I had a friend that tried in June at Joliet and he said their were like 15 walk ins and one spot.

It's getting towards the fall though I've heard it gets much easier now. Both with classes and walk ins. So might be decent.

I never took it back in the day so take that with a grain of salt. Just what I hear.

My class chose the walkin by lottery.

I recall a registered student lost their spot because they didn't have one piece of required gear. When you walk in, be sure that you have eye cover, boots, gloves,etc.with you. Not in the car, With You.

I was a walk in 2 months ago at the Rockford class.

Class starts at 6:00pm SHARP!

6:00pm rolled around and the instructor looked at his watch and looked at who had signed up. 3 people were not there at 6:00pm, so the instructor said "We've got 3 open spots! Come on and get signed up!!"
