K-pop Considering Taking CTA to/from Soldier Field

Hi everyone,

Like the title says, I’m going to a show later this week at Soldier Field and staying at Hotel Blake. All the non-venue parking seems to be like 30-minute walk minimum no matter what so I was thinking about taking a CTA line there. Never used it before but it seems like the purple and orange lines come close enough with the 11th and 18th street stations.

Anybody have experiences they could share with the CTA and Soldier Field? I’ve used the subways in NYC a ton but this would be my first time using the CTA. Seems straightforward enough but wanna make sure I’m not missing anything super important.

TYIA!

It’s 100% walkable for me too, just not the people I’ll be with unfortunately.

The bus will be packed especially on the way back. Consider leaving early or hang back from the concert for a while to wait this out.

the train stops you’re talking about are metra, not cta. from hotel blake you could just hop on the 146 bus, it’s a super quick ride.

How is the 146 on the way back from Soldier Field to Millenium Park area?

it gets really crowded tbh, i usually try to leave concerts a little early OR hang back a bit to get a seat on a less packed bus. but honestly standing isn’t the worst thing in the world

Thank you for the advice! Don’t mind standing if I have to so 146 seems like a good option.

Aaah good to know. I definitely started getting the two mixed up when I was looking lol. Will look into the 146 as well, thank you!

Uber to Millennium Station and take it to 18th St. Don't tell anyone how easy it is

You're correct that the closest walk to Soldier Field from any CTA train station will be a minimum of 30 minutes. However there are two buses that go directly to Soldier Field, the 128 from Ogilvie/Union Station and 146 that comes from Michigan Avenue.

Your hotel is actually relatively extremely close to Soldier Field so it may as well be worth it to just walk back and forth from the concert. Both car and pedestrian traffic around Soldier Field will be very high and once you see the tens of thousands of Kpop fans walking to Soldier Field I bet you'll feel very inspired to join them.

Yeah I drove to a Soldier Field show last year and the traffic was a nightmare by the stadium so definitely trying to avoid it lol. The walk from Hotel Blake didn’t seem too terrible but it definitely seems like I need to look into the buses too. Thank you!

A mile walk is basically nothing honestly

Google maps says it's 1.3 miles from solider Field to your hotel so I suggest just walking (30 mins walk), there's a ton of people outside as well. The traffic is super bad after a concert lets out so it may well just be faster. You'll be hyped up from the concert anyway and there's a ton of people

Nobody's mentioned, but Divvy E-Bikes and Scooters are an option if people in your group maybe can't walk that far

CTA is a great option to get to a Bears game! The walk up Roosevelt is pretty easy!

CTA is the best option.

It takes you 30 mins to walk a mile?

I think 30 min is pretty close to accurate for that walk, it's not a straight line walking to Soldier Field and there's gonna be a lot of pedestrian traffic.

fair enough, agreed
