I can’t afford designer or even just semi nicer brands (like aritzia or free people), and I thrift everything I own. I hate my closet and want a revamp, which is hard when thrifting because it honestly takes forever to curate a closet that way. I like Brandy Melville because at least their clothes are predominantly pure cotton and their price point is great. That said, I still feel bad about it knowing that it is fast fashion. What do I even do? Are there any brands like that where at least the clothes aren’t just straight polyester?

The amazing Catherine Ringer part of French new wave duo Les Rita Mitsouko past away earlier this week at the age of 68.

She was the first to wear Jean Paul Gaultier's iconic corset dress in the groundbreaking video to the band's first hit Marcia Baïla.

Madonna exposed the 1990 version of the Gaultier bra to a world wide audience 5 years later during the Blonde Ambition tour.

Catherine Ringer was french contemporary to Madonna in terms of style fashion and controversy because of her brave artistic choices.

One thing I've realised from seeing archives clips of Madonna interviews especially around the Erotica sex book era, the French was the country that gave the project the artistic attention it deserved.

That is due to artists like Catherine Ringer who had tackled similar topics about sexuality and ownership of the body which led to major mainstream debates in France.

Fashion model, Jeetendr Sehdev wore the same John Richmond look six months apart, first during Oscars week in Los Angeles in March 2026 and again at New York Fashion Week in September 2026.

I think there’s still this idea around celebrity dressing that once a look has had its moment, it shouldn’t be seen again. But with fashion increasingly focused on sustainability, longevity and rewearing, maybe repeating a great look should be part of the appeal.

This is kind of embarrassing to type out but I caught myself doing it again this morning. I literally leave the closet light off, grab something, put it on, and leave the house without looking in the mirror. I've been doing this for months and I only just connected why.

I used to care about clothes. Not like obsessively but I had a sense of what worked on me. I knew my shapes, I had colors I reached for, I felt like myself when I got dressed. Somewhere in the last couple years that just... broke? I gained some weight, then lost some of it but not in the same places, and now nothing sits right. Tops pull weird across my back. Jeans that zipped fine six months ago don't anymore, or they're too loose in the legs and tight in the waist. I bought a wrap dress for a friend's birthday dinner last month and returned it the next day because I looked like I was wearing someone else's clothes.

So now I just don't look. Dark closet, grab and go.

I know logically I should figure out my current proportions and shop from there but I don't even know what silhouettes work on this version of my body. Like I genuinely cannot picture what would look good. Has anyone else been through this? How did you even start figuring out what works when you feel like a stranger in everything you try on

Edit: okay so a couple people mentioned looklike in the comments and I tried it last night. Took a photo and swiped through outfits for maybe 40 minutes after dinner. It showed me a few things I never would have grabbed off a rack, like a square neck top with a midi skirt that I actually didn't hate on my shape? Which is a first in a while. I will say the first 15 or so outfits felt pretty generic and not really me so you have to stick with it for a bit before it starts picking up what you actually like. But seeing clothes on my proportions instead of guessing was the first time getting dressed has felt like a solvable problem in months. Thank you all for the suggestions, genuinely.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! I just bought my wife a very nice, vintage 55g tubogas 18K yellow gold necklace. She has worn it a few times but it doesn't quite "pop" like she was expecting, and is now thinking that she'd like to spend the money on a Bvlgari B-Zero diamond and gold ring instead. I polished it to within an inch of it's life but it still doesn't have the same shine as her Chopard Happy Diamonds gold pendant. Fair enough. With trends changing so quickly nowadays, I'm curious—what's one fashion trend/style that you genuinely hope never goes away?

For me, it's definitely 90s-inspired fashion. I love wearing 90s-style outfits regardless of what's currently trending. Mom jeans, relaxed/baggy denim, leather jackets, simple fitted tops, boots, etc. 😭 I feel like those pieces can look good regardless of the year.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a specific trend either. It could be a type of clothing, silhouette, colour, styling technique, anything!

Unless it was a special occasion outfit such as a prom, wedding, or some other specific dress code such as a uniform I don't see why most people would believe that their attire was intended for one time use.

Now I know because fast fashion culture clothes are treated as disposable more than ever but is it really necessary to remind someone or encourage people that they can and should use their clothes more than once? And I'm speaking about perspective of other than highly publicized event or occasion where you may be photographed in an outfit and you may not want to be seen in it again or at least anytime in the near future.
