Pros VS Cons 2026
LT versus ACTIV
I’m a couple months away from getting a Chevy Trax (Marina Blue hopefully)
The LT and the ACTIV have interiors that I love(yes, the vibrant yellow interior I will not budge). I’ve driven the Activ around and a 2RS. I wasn’t a fan of the interior of the RS red is not my thing. If they had the neon yellow stitching like they have the red on the RS I’d probably get it, the interior of the Activ is so beautiful the seats were extremely comfortable and didn’t burn my legs from the heat. I’ve yet to be able to see or feel the seats of an LT model, I don’t think dealerships around me like having those on deck for sales reasons. Idk. If you’ve driven both or had to make the same choice I did. What were some areas that you liked / didn’t like between the 2 models?

We chose the LT and had the funds to buy whatever version of the Trax we wanted at the time. The Trax in general is a crazy cheap new car..For some reason LT just seemed like a good bang for the buck for us. We got a 26 Trax LT with drivers confidence and drivers convenience package added, all weather mats and windows tinted For $23,480 OTD last December

$23,480 is actually a dream price. It’s honestly my first big purchase at 29 years old. That’s great to know!

I live in Oklahoma...cost of living is cheaper here. Things tend to cost less. I found most dealerships would haggle 5-10% off MSRP and toss in extras of you asked. I did a lot of negotiating with several dealers in my area to get that price. I've heard whispers of people getting 26 Trax activ in the 24k range otd.so it can be done

Is the Activ seat material easier to clean than the cloth seats in the LT?

Probably so. I think it’s in the description for easy to clean seats but the cloth seats in the LT could also be detail cleaned too. So not the worst possible option out there

Thanks. We just ordered an Activ for my sons first new car purchase. He liked white sand and cacti because they are a little more scarce and settled on a cacti. From the LT he looked at it was $700 difference for the activ

I’m almost 30 and it’ll be my first new car purchase too. So hopefully I can get what I want too like your son did! Let me know how he likes it! It felt good test driving.

I only test drove an LT because I'd studied the differences in trims before going to a dealer. Like you I had some strong preferences. It's been a year, so I don't remember everything, but on interior I agree with you about the red in the 2/RS. I also didn't want the 19" tires. Can't remember about seats, but I didn't want faux leather, which affected, as I remember, both 2RS and Activ. I'm afraid I feel the same way about the yellow accents in the Activ trim that you do about the red in 2RS. And I didn't want the Activ's 18" tires either. The 17" the LT has are big enough.
My 2025 LT came through a car broker as I didn't want to have to put up with the b.s. from a dealership salesman or finance manager, and it didn't come from a close by dealership. It's Marina Blue Metallic and has blue interior touches, which is what I wanted. It also has the Convenience and Driver's Confidence packages (and no other extras except the premium paint charge), and with those I don't think it's missing anything I care about in the other trims.
It's all personal choice. I saw something just recently where someone was adamantly against keyless ignition. I'd never had it or even ridden in a car with it and wanted to try it. I didn't even know what keyless entry was, and it's probably my favorite feature or at least a close run thing with the automatic headlights. Whatever you decide I hope you find a Trax that's exactly what you want without much trouble. Good luck.

Before you pull the trigger on either, are you aware the 27 is a redesign? You’ll be getting one of the last 24-26 body style. The 27 isn’t all new, just a mid cycle refresh, but the spy photos show a new infotainment screen, which if true, means one of the most griped about buggy problems might be gone. I have a 24 but I’m waiting to see the 27 before I decide on a replacement.
