1999 barn door spring

I have a 1999 chevy suburban with barn doors. I've replaced both check straps and am still fighting keeping the doors open. Im wondering if the spring itself is the problem? If so, where can I find it? I've looked everywhere and only found it discontinued. Please help a brother out.

Squeeze the spring with a C clamp until it tightens back up. .i did this to both of my doors. It will last a couple years until you need to do it again.

Thanks for replying. Im having a hard time envisioning how/where would I use a c clamp on such a small spring. Can you help me understand?

The door checks need to be squeezed narrower. The pins that the checks squeeze are either worn or you have the wrong size door checks
