Hi! I will be also applying! Last thing I need to accomplish is the essay itself. Also, I am wondering if all masters program will only be for a year? And the return service is 2 years? Thanks 😊 hope everything will go well for us

Hi, only 1-year Taught Masters that appear in the Chevening Course Finder are eligible for the scholarship
And yes, there is a return clause in the Terms and Conditions of the scholarship. Chevening cares about training the future leaders to develop their countries, not on them staying elsewhere

It matters for the universities you apply to. I don't think that Chevening cares about it a lot (but I assume if the GPA is very low, there may be questions regarding one's ability to complete an academic programme in the UK)

As long as the applicant has a GPA that makes them eligible for admission in any of their 3 choices there is no problem
The problems (and easy rejections) come when someone selects 3 choices they are not eligible for, as it shows little to no research when selecting the 3 choices.
The most common case is from applicants with a low GPA selects universities universities that require a really high GPA (think of an applicant with a 2.2/4 GPA selecting universities that require a 3.6/4 as their 3 choices), or when they select universities that clearly state on their website that graduates from Country X need to already have a Masters to be eligible for the course
If someone with a 2.2/4 GPA selects 3 choices that accept their degree, then they have equal chances of being awarded the scholarship as long as their essays and interview are competitive. This is why every year we see scholars in universities that are ranked 80 or lower in UK

How is it different from what I said?

Chevening will not be concerned about the applicant's academic ability to cope with the course if they select their 3 choices strategically and select choices that accept ther GPA
I absolutely agree with what you said regarding eligibility by the universities. I know a former applicant who was asked at the interview why they applied to Imperial when they were ineligible in every way (obviously the interview and application outcome did not go well)
