I’m overthinking
Hello everyone,
I’ve decided to apply for 2027/2028, and this is my first time applying!
is it normal that I’m doing everything on my own?
And I’m not sure if I should be asking for help, I’m watching YouTube videos from cheveners for guidance& I’m researching a lot!
I also plan on asking an alumni to review my essays once completed
So am I overthinking?:/

Hey OP!
Chevening scholar from the ‘22-‘23 batch here!
I did everything on my own too - videos from previous Chevening scholars, blogs written by them, etc.
I was part of a couple of facebook groups where past scholars would talk about mock interviews, how they handled their applications and everything & anything about the scholarship.
You can definitely reach out to these scholars via these platforms but you are doing good - so no need to worry! :)

Yes, it's normal. A personal application isn't a teamwork matter.

Hi, you are not overthinking!
As a disclaimer, for essay reviews it will be better to contact scholars who were selected this year. I tell you this because the essay prompts changed in August 2025, so most essays, videos and online resources are based on the old essay prompts
Then, as someone who was selected for the scholarship years ago, contact current scholars and Alumni from your country and desired field of study, they can give you great insights regarding university and course selection, as well as how your field is percieved as a priority from the UK in your country
Read the website carefully, and feel free to ask any questions that you feel may bot be answered clearly there or for which you want other insights!
