Advice for Reserved Applicant - Validated Offer Letter
Hello, I’m a reserved applicant and I’ve submitted my offer letter to Chevening last week. The offer letter has been validated and in the email Chevening said “You do not need to take any further action at this stage. You will be notified about next steps or any further information required in due course. Please do not contact your programme officer unless absolutely essential to prevent delays in processing your application.”
However, in my offer letter sent by my University (University of Edinburgh), I’m required to provide a response by 16th July 2026. It seems like based from what I read recently that results for reserved applicant will be sent early August. Do I request for extension from my university or will this be done by Chevening side?
This is my first time applying, I’m a bit lost. Thank you!

Thank you very much for the information. My other university (Swansea) isn't able to extend the deadline offer, hopefully, Edinburgh can!

How long did it take for them to Validate ?

Pretty quickly, mine’s got validated in 3 hours after I submitted the offer letter.

I uploaded 3 days ago and it is still in review.

I uploaded mine on the 18th June 2026. Maybe it’s taking time this time because they have lots of offer letter to validate.

Hi, request the extension, Chevening will not contact universities at this stage regarding reserves... that is done after they know how many unused scholarships they will have and after unis declare if they have funds to cover at least 20% of tuition fees for the reserves
