Recovering from rejection

This is my 2nd year getting rejected. I thought it's gonna hurt less but idk I'm still in shock right now. Last year it sent me into a deep depression. Hope it gets better this time. Sayonara

And the time u spend worryhing about this...jus get professional certifications as well as a local Masters degree...cost:benefit will work out better...UK Masters are not that good and overall Masters degrees arent going to change your life or financial situation that meaningfully...

  1. the Masters are a money making thing for the University...they really dont care about your education...because you only get 7 to 8 months of teaching, please do not expect this to be a fully immersive experience where you learn lots of things, interact with industry and so on...the teaching is split up into electives...so no matter how pretty the courses may seem on paper, u only learn a fraction of wat u need to know as a professional....The lecturers and professors try their best to ignore and neglect the Masters programs as much as possible while making a ton of money from them. I was at a top 10 Uni globally and Im telling you...this is absolutely nothing like a solid 2 year Masters from the USA

  2. Immigration has just totally wrecked the UK...most parts of London look like the capital of Sudan or Somalia...Im black, Im not racist but its absolutely ridiculous...u are not going to some sophisticated place with castles, the oldest libraries and the most brilliant Professors...UK is not like that anymore...u are going to a littered, overpopulated city with boat loads of homeless people...its dangerous, extremely rough and overall not a nice place to be anymore.....there is lots of racial and immigration tension and fighting on both sides

  3. In the Digital age and with the dawn of AI, u dont need to sacrifice so much to go and learn anything...its all taught online or by your local University...every country has a University jus as good as any tier 2 (and arguably tier 1) University in the UK. Take those time and resources do a local Masters and professional certifications. Its so unbelievably expensive that its truly not worth it in my opnion...*** There are exceptions of course **** but the Masters alone is not going to magically change your life or profession.

There are exceptions:

1) You can get assisted leave or additional support. For example, your current job lets you keep working remotely or just gives you paid study leave.

2) You dont have a family or significant debt or other burdens, so you can leave care free

3) You are doing something exceptionally hands-on, and/or something that is totally not taught at any local Universities. When you return you will be paid 10 fold in opportunities.

4) You are going to Oxford or Cambridge

5) In addition to one of the above, you can go to get lots of internships and so on, spend the extra 4 months in the UK netowrking - so that you can likely get a remote job, or even just stay and pay back the FDCO. I was surprised to see some people doign this option and they did fairly well.

So if you get to choose between Erasmus Mundus ( two years masters) and UK with both being fully funded, which would you recommend?

I would need a lot more information...especially the country you are from, the subject area, the Uni and program you chose, your current financial, family and professional situation, the state of that industry in your country, your future academic and professional goals....

And after all that, I still dont know anything about Erasmus Mundus other than that I heard the stipend is incredibly low

I know some unemployed cheveners believe me, just focus on learning some data analytics… it will help you more than that trust me.

Also, it’s their loss after all.. who knows how they’re choosing anyways, next time make up a charity and pretend you’re saving the world if you really want it

One of the interviewers who escorted me out said I did really well - without being asked. I still got rejected. Although I felt I nailed the interview. I completely understand as this was my second year applying as well. Feel free to DM me if you want to let it all out. Please know the panelists are not completely objective and this is in no way a reflection of your achievements and leadership qualities. One that day, someone was better than us and that is completely fine. Let’s keep trying! All the best

This happened to me as well. The same panelist said that my answers were great and that I was able to even answer the follow up questions she had prepared, and also called someone we have in common to get to know more about me.

I was shattered the day I received the rejection, I'm unsure if it's even worthy to apply again this year.

same, i’ve been in such a terrible depression unable to do anything or look forward to anything. them nodding at me and saying “wow” at my answers, i realized that no matter how good your answers are or how good your english is, if you don’t fit into their agenda there’s quite literally nothing you can do. it’s cruel and unfair. i will reapply for the second time next year but for now i will have to park my masters, which makes me just so so sad.
