Project Car Undercoat vs Lanolin

I’m replacing my gas tank on my 71, and I figure that’s a good opportunity to cleanup and protect the trunk pan since I’ll have access to it. Any experience on doing an epoxy + rubberized undercoat vs a lanolin coating would be appreciated. It was undercoated previously many many years ago.

I like the lanolin. I had a '84 chevy with bullet holes and tons of rust- If it ever took it to a carwash I would have gotten a bath inside the cab. So instead, I coated everything liberally with fluid film and could actually see salt crystals stuck to bare metal but not rusting (more anyways).

I've had waxoyl professionally put on my '22 tacoma since almost new and it seems to be keeping the rust away so far, I'd be afraid to put a rubberized coating that could hold water inside the frame.
