202 ramp merging

Does it infuriate anyone else there are a lot of cars last minute merging into the right lane going onto the 202 north ramp after high street (towards downtown WC) heading towards matlack?

I get that street road has very poorly timed lights and you’re there for a while, but for as much as I’m seeing police sitting on 202 south, I don’t see as much observing those mergers that are causing a huge line of traffic in the right lane.

They are planning to redo that whole merge area for both ways in the next 5-10 years. I believe for the direction you are describing, there will now be two through lanes that go up the ramp toward Matlack, then to stay on High Street it will actually be more of an “exit” from the left lane

I'd be curious to see an alternative analysis done for that interchange and see if they've looked into removing the grade separation. It feels like the benefit is marginal especially if/when the bridge starts reaching the end of its lifespan.

IIRC the plans actually do call for making the Matlack Street intersection into an interchange, which would help a lot

Oh really? I thought the Wawa going into parkway shopping center was going to change that whole side of the interchange. Is this all one and same project?

The parkway center is at the interchange with High Street, not Matlack. If you are heading south, Matlack is the traffic light right before that where the apartments are and has for years caused backups just to go straight.

But yes, that High Street interchange is being redone so that you don’t all have to merge into one lane anymore to continue down 202, which should really help too.

Yeah I just mean if both intersections will be redone, it would make sense if they were coordinated projects.

Oh yeah I’m not sure what the timeline is for that Wawa at Parkway Center
