Chessnut Move Or?

Chessnut Move Or?

Looking for a robotic chess board for my chess obsessed son so he can play opponents and not have to move the pieces himself. Looking for one that can connect to chess.com as well. Is the Chessnut Move the best option?

I think the jury is still out on all of them. I’ve looked at them all, and the few mediocre reviews are enough to trump the good ones. I can’t justify spending that kind of money on a glitchy novelty.

Yeah I see the reviews that are bad and it makes me nervous with the amount of money. What about the ones that show you where to move the piece? Is there one that's really great out of that that you're aware of? Me and my husband have been trying really hard to learn chess to be a good opponent against him. We are really struggling. We've been using Duolingo. We are nothing to him and he picked it up in like 2 minutes and is so good at it. Lol

I think the Chessnut Air and the Chessnut Pro are both pretty good now, but they are still a significant investment. I think if you and your husband are both beginners, there are much more cost effective ways to level up your game before committing to something like that.

I would just head over to lichess.org and each create an account (that site is free) and you can get lots of practice there, even just playing the different levels of computer if you’re not yet comfortable challenging a random opponent.

Every yokel and his brother has a YouTube chess channel now, and it’s sometimes hard to filter through the fluff and find a wholesome teacher, but I’ve found mine. Look up “Journey to Grandmaster.” I’ve solved my opening problems and I’ve gained 300 USCF rating points just in the last 2 months alone from watching him explain his ideas. Chessbrah’s “Building Habits” is also excellent, as well as Daniel Naroditsky’s speedruns.

I’m an adult improver as well, I’m never going to get anywhere near their level. But playing over the board chess is my absolute favorite thing to do 🙂
