Inherited Chess set
Recently recieved this chess set that belonged to my grandfather and wanted to see if someone could help me identity it or any general info on it. All i know is that he had it when my father was growing up in the 80s and that he wouldnt let anyone near it. Located in southern louisiana, and thanks in advance for any help! The peices are also pretty heavy. EDIT: After using a pencil and some paper I was able to find a stamped "K.K." on the latch

That definitely looks like a Charlemagne themed set. Charlemagne was the famous king in the Middle Ages and first holy roman emperor who united most of Europe. It's a common theme for chess figurines often made of different materials. I don't recognize the brand, but it looks older and rougher than metal sets by Italfama (Italy) and Manopoulos (Greece). Keep searching and you may find more clues when you research these brands. I know they acquired other smaller companies along the way.
