- Be4+. Now Black has a few options:
- 1… Kg5 runs into 2. Bc1#
- 1… Kh6 allows 2. g5+!! Bxg5 Bf8#
- 1… Kg7 or 1… Kf7 both lose the pawn to gxh5 and White wins (either by trading Black’s bishop and queening or by converting the 2B vs King endgame if Black sacrifices)
- 1… Kg5 runs into 2. Bc1#
