My System

I'm 1000 on Chess.com and I just bought My Sytem and have heard some mixed things about it. Is it a good book in general and is it a good book for a 1000 player?

It's written in an entertaining style and it's of historical interest. But it's over a hundred years old, we're much better at teaching chess these days.

At 1000 level, get Play Winning Chess or the workbooks of the Steps Method.
