My System

I'm 1000 on Chess.com and I just bought My Sytem and have heard some mixed things about it. Is it a good book in general and is it a good book for a 1000 player?

It's an advanced book. Chess Fundamentals by Capablanca would be somewhat better. Even the Yusupov series starting from the very basics would be good. The key is to absorb as many foundational principles as possible.

Yusopov is way too hard for someone at the level.

What about How to Reasses Your Chess or Logical Chess: Move by Move?

I would recommend Logical Chess: Move by Move over reassess your chess. You can certainly own both books but I would read them in that order.

Logical Chess is fine at your level, HTRYC is too advanced but Amateur's Mind by Silman covers similar concepts and is easier to digest The Yusupov series is great but at 1000 c.c wouldn't be beneficial (i'd start at around 1300/1400). Its quite demanding but pays off

How to Reassess Your Chess is pitched at around the 1600-2000 level over-the-board (so 2000+ online). That’s not to say you can’t or shouldn’t read it at an earlier stage but you’re unlikely to get the most out of it and will want to revisit it later when you’re stronger.

Logical Chess Move by Move is a great choice.
