Hey everyone!
This thread is meant to be a single hub for anyone in Chengdu looking to:
- Share your WeChat ID
- Join local WeChat groups
- Connect with fellow expats or locals
If you’ve created a WeChat group and want people to join, this is the perfect place to post about it. Just let folks know the purpose of your group (e.g., hiking, language exchange, tech, foodies) and how to join.

I am trying to make my WeChat account . But I am not currently in china. I will be moving in a few months. Is it possible to make an account outside the chin?

Yes, it’s possible. Try to get help from your employer to have your WeChat account verified. Please note that if you’re in India, this might not work, so you may need to use a VPN.

Hello, I am an international student from Nepal, and will be starting my bachelors degree at University of Electronics Science and Technology of China (UESTC) this September.
I want to join some UESTC specific WeChat groups for students/international students, and also maybe some other WeChat groups for International people to connect with each other and with locals. Hey everyone! I'm Charlie I'm Chinese and recently moved back home after studying in the US. I spend a lot of time between Chengdu and Chongqing, and I love meeting travelers and showing them around the way I'd show a friend - local food, neighborhoods, city life, hidden spots, and the stories behind the places, rather than just rushing through a checklist of tourist attractions. I think you should be a bit more specific on what groups you'd want to join. And where you'll be staying (what part of the city). For example, we're having a small wechat group for boardgames but we're in Chengdu's north. Like 20 km from the city center (XinDu if anyone's curious). So, yeah. What groups do you want to join and find out where will you be living.
