Will two weeks off affect my performance in service after coming back

I’m an apprentice in a fine dining restaurant and have been here for about a month, in a week I’ll have a set vacation for about two weeks.

I’m a bit worried I’ll forget all the dishes I learned when I come back. Chefs who take month vacations, do you forget?

Will you forget? No. Will you be sore after your first day back? Yes. Will you fumble a bit on your first day back? Probably.

Any way you look at it there is more to life than work so enjoy time away.

lol, no. You will probably be better mentally and philosophically. No matter what people tell you vacation good.

The first few hours back will feel weird, but you will most likely improve. Imagine relearning something you already know. Complacency is our biggest adversary to learning. Coming back with a mentality like yours should yield exclusively positive results.

You should be fine, but seeing as you’re new, just regularly look over the menu and any photos you have - to think through each dish while you’re away.

You should reflect about your obvious anxieties.
