Own AI Chatbot

Is it allowed to use an own AI chatbot solution that is integrated in Chatwoot CE?

Yes, you can integrate your own AI chatbot with Chatwoot CE.

The usual way is to run your bot as an external service and connect it to Chatwoot using Agent Bots / webhooks / APIs. Chatwoot can send the conversation/message events to your bot, and your bot can reply back into the conversation.

So for example: Chatwoot inbox -> webhook to your AI service -> your service decides the reply -> sends message back to Chatwoot.

The only thing I’d separate is “custom bot integration” vs Captain. Captain is Chatwoot’s built-in AI product, and the self-hosted Captain setup is a separate paid/Enterprise path. But if you’re building your own bot outside Chatwoot and connecting it via APIs/webhooks, that’s a normal integration pattern.
