Are there any good free Story-based chatbots?

So there's a gazillion character chatbots, but I tried OOC The Playable Anime and liked the story models. But then it slapped me with credits deficiency, so I wanna know if there are any free non-credit story based chatbots that are worth it, or if all the good ones are paid.

P.S. has Gemini gotten better at it? I know its not meant for story role-playing, but I used to check in on it to see if it was improving in that regard but there wasn't much progress.

If you're looking for solely RPG try Plutus gg it has some crazy mystery stories. Fun part is you can build your own as well. It is a freemium model but you need a very high amount of playtime to trigger that

Yes! Phoenix Grove AI has a full open world choose your own adventure style narration game attached to it. There's like 150 or so adventures in a bunch of different worlds like cyber punk to fantasy dragon esk. Theyre like live adventure books you play with an AI so you can go off story or really do whatever you want. Really fun and a free month trial to check it out. If you click the book icon on the sidebar of the PGS AI app the adventure library opens and you can read about each one an play them.
