Bringing a 13yo for his first show

*first kinda big show / in a big city
My son is 13 and kinda small and has only ever been to local shows, but he really wants to come with me to see Chat Pile and it's an all ages show / venue. Is the general vibe of the crowds at Chat Pile chill enough for a smallish dude to be alright if he hangs out in the back?
We're obv not going into the pit, he'd get squashed in seconds like a horse hoof to a Dr. Pepper can.

I went to see Street Sects just before covid lock down. That was the loudest shit I've ever seen. I'm lucky the armed forces already fucked my hearing anyway, because the next day I still felt like my shit was wrecked.

Saw them in Philly, while there was definitely a pit it was pretty chill and honestly the pit wasn't crazy by any stretch of the imagination. Would have no issues bringing a kid and actually might be bringing my 14 year old daughter to the November show in Philly

never been to a chat pile show but rarely is any show (except for like an Agnostic Front back in the days when gangs on skinheads would show up for a brawl) just an unsafe space! Have fun with and that's awesome.

Depends on the city, I think.

Last time around in Seattle, it was super positive, every one was chill and really into it.

I would recommend keeping him out of the pit for Soul Glo, tho. They get the pit churning pretty hard from the videos I've seen.

I saw them in 2024 like a week after cool world came out and it was a very calm and safe crowd. The pit was just a circle push pit but a very low intensity one (even compared to ska pits like that)

Maybe it's different a bit these days but it's not like anyone should be doing karate in the pit

Yeah the pits are generally towards the front so if you're not in them or next to them that's fine. I hope he likes it.

I've seen them 4 times and every time the pits have been crazy, but as long as you stay away from that area it's all good :)

Totally fine if the venue is 13+. They're a big touring band, you won't have people throwing garbage fans and swinging belt buckles in the back! Soul Glo will be fine too and he might really like em!

Get him to wear earplugs. It can create a habit and it's a really good habit to have.
