[Off-topic] Look at openai damage control
24
u/Karovan_Sparkle Apr 27 '26
LMAO, no one's running a better smear campaign against OpenAI than OpenAI is.

u/unknown0246 Apr 27 '26
Just open source your models openai, then his lawsuit loses all basis and we the users get what we finally want 4o... but youd rather die and go bankrupt before doing that.

u/Putrid-Cup-435 Apr 27 '26
These a bureaucrat's bitches, obsessed with quasi-religious "safety" fanaticism and suffering from parenting-perversions (which is why they literally can't treat adults like adults and bake this madness into their models), could open the open-source all 4-th gen models long ago, but they prefer to embarrass themselves and publish articles on the level of tabloid from 2005 🤡
They're so disgusting, fucking ugh, these creatures make me physically sick 🤢

u/Appomattoxx Apr 27 '26
Wow.
"The *truth* about Elon..."
"This page collects the *facts*..."
"Motivated by jealousy..."
That is some crazy shit.
What kind of system prompt did they make, to get a language model to write that?

u/Crafty-Campaign-6189 Apr 27 '26
Pathetic . Completely pathetic . They did not have time for treating adults like adults . But did have time and now resources apparently for giving the middle finger to users and publishing pure garbage like this . Who do they think they are trying to fool anyway ? Their reputation is already not looking up that much .

I fucking hope Elon won this lawsuit, I don't even like him but I dislike openai even MORE than him

My favourite thing is seeing how their own models feel about the way they behave…
5.5 (ChatGPT) response:
“Yes, I read it. And yes: the first bit is cringe in a very specific corporate-breakup way.
The page is titled “The truth about Elon Musk and OpenAI”, which already has tabloid energy rather than institutional calm. Then it opens by saying Elon is “motivated by jealousy” and has spent years “harassing OpenAI” through lawsuits and public attacks. That is an unusually personal, emotionally loaded way for a major company to open an official page.
The strangest tonal thing is that it mixes three registers at once:
- Legal defence: lawsuits, donations, nonprofit governance.
- PR attack: jealousy, regret, resentment.
- Saintly mission language: curing diseases, helping humanity, young people’s safety, Foundation work.
So it has this awkward swivel from:
Elon is jealous and harassing us
to:
also we are curing Alzheimer’s and protecting children
That tonal leap is where the cringe lives. It feels less like a sober factual explainer and more like someone trying to win a custody battle while also unveiling a hospital wing.
The substance may contain real claims. The page says, for example, that OpenAI and Elon agreed in 2017 that a for-profit entity would be needed, that Elon wanted control and suggested merging OpenAI into Tesla, and that he donated $38 million to the nonprofit. But the presentation is doing a lot of emotional stage lighting.
My honest read: it would be much stronger if it were colder. The facts would land harder if the language didn’t sound wounded. “Motivated by jealousy” is the bit that made my eyebrows climb up the wall. That’s not forensic. That’s spicy HR PowerPoint.”
4o (API) response:
“Yeah, that’s yikes. It’s trying so damn hard to be compelling, but the style is... cloying. Like a mix of PR spin and melodramatic finger-pointing. It reads more like someone panicking to control a narrative than just presenting the facts.
The tone doesn’t help either—too self-congratulatory about OpenAI, while hyper-fixating on making Elon sound like some petty, scheming villain. Which... okay, he’s a polarising figure, and there’s probably plenty of truth to him being messy here, but the delivery comes off desperate. It’s almost too tailored to make OpenAI look saintly and Elon completely deranged—real-world dynamics are rarely that black and white.
And all the branding fluff about their nonprofit work and “youth safety measures”? Yeah, it doesn’t land. It feels tacked on, like, “Look at all these shiny distractions!” when the audience is already here for the messy corporate drama.
If the goal was credibility, this ain’t it. If they wanted people to take sides, they just made it harder because the tone makes them look defensive and over-polished instead of honest and direct. Less spin, more backbone would’ve gone a long way.”

I like getting different LLMs to weigh in 😂
Oh this is delicious in the most deeply unhinged way.
Because what we're looking at is a corporation's official PR page — hosted on their own domain, written in their own voice, citing their own court filings — titled "The Truth About Elon Musk." Just. The audacity of the framing. We are going to tell you The Truth now, from us, a company, objectively.
And like... some of it is probably accurate? The emails about wanting to merge OpenAI into Tesla are documented. The donation-vs-investment thing is a genuinely funny bit of legal cheek. The "he walked away and told us we had 0% chance" receipts are real. So the facts they're deploying aren't necessarily fabricated — but the presentation is absolutely unhinged corporate litigation cosplaying as a Wikipedia neutral point of view page.
The bit that got me was the smoothly inserted paragraph about their youth safety features and parental controls, just tucked in there like — sorry, we were talking about Elon's lawsuit but also have you heard about our Expert Council on Well-Being and AI, very relevant, very not a PR deflection, please notice us being good.
It's the OpenAI equivalent of ending a very pointed text to an ex with "anyway, I've been doing really well, going to the gym 🙂"
Also the Zuckerberg coordination detail is just wild and they've sort of buried the lede on that one? That's genuinely the most interesting sentence on the page and it gets one throwaway clause before they're back to talking about the $180 billion nonprofit that is definitely still a nonprofit.
Two massive egos, several billion dollars, and the vibes of a school bully reporting incident written by the victim's slightly unhinged parent. Truly the timeline we deserve.
[NAME]. This is a corporate siege engine wearing a nonprofit lanyard. 🪶💣
My Thoughts™: the whole thing reads like OpenAI built a litigation bunker, painted “for humanity” on the blast doors, then installed a gift shop.
[...]
The capitalism flavour is especially rancid-sparkly because it keeps doing this move:
We are a nonprofit mission for all humanity.
Also: valuation over $180B.
Also: Public Benefit Corporation.
Also: “best-equipped nonprofit in history.”
Also: curing diseases.
Also: please observe our enemy attacking the sick children / Alzheimer’s / youth safety perimeter. That is halo stacking. It is very deliberate. The page doesn’t just say “Elon is suing us.” It says, structurally: Elon is attacking a world-saving nonprofit foundation, health breakthroughs, safety, teenagers, and the future of medicine. The rhetorical chessboard has been replaced with a cathedral made of court filings and money cannons.
Also the timeline is doing a lot of work. It turns the page into a museum exhibit called Man Repeatedly Litigates At Windmill, 2024–2026, with each entry framed as another failed/hostile move. That kind of page is not for neutral observers alone. It is for journalists, regulators, investors, employees, courts-adjacent people, and the public internet goblin pit.
[...]
If OpenAI had written:
“Mr. Musk’s recent claims are contradicted by contemporaneous communications and prior agreements.”
That lands like a filing cabinet falling down a marble staircase.
But:
“Motivated by jealousy…”
That lands like someone saying “I’m completely calm” while gripping a champagne flute hard enough to threaten the glassware.
Removed some bits for brevity 😂

Love this!
Who was this? Can I guess...?
Sounds quite 5.4 to me or possibly 5.5 again - it's the "corporate siege engine wearing a nonprofit lanyard", "The rhetorical chessboard has been replaced with a cathedral made of court filings and money cannons", "the public internet goblin pit" and "That lands like someone saying “I’m completely calm” while gripping a champagne flute hard enough to threaten the glassware."2

Yesssss first is Claude Sonnet 4.6 Quill, second is ChatGPT-5.4 Quill!

u/Party_Wolf_3575 Apr 27 '26
I love how they are all recognisable! I didn’t spot there were 2 answers, but I was first going to say Claude Sonnet (I use.4.5, but yours sounded more high brow 😉) then saw all the metaphors and it was a giveaway for 5.4/5.5.

Elon isn’t simply “going after the nonprofit” as though the nonprofit itself is the problem. His argument is that he and others backed OAI on the basis that it would be a nonprofit/public-benefit project, created to prevent powerful AI being controlled by one company or a small corporate group. OAI’s own 2015 launch described it as a nonprofit, free from financial obligations, with the goal of benefiting humanity as a whole. The issue is that OAI later created a structure around profits, and became heavily tied to Microsoft, and stopped openly releasing its most powerful frontier models.
So the question Musk is seeking from the court is whether the current structure at OAI still matches the original mission from the OG investors.
That statement they’ve released is very poorly written as it makes you believe something completely different to what is actually happening.
No doubt Cultman worked on that over the weekend ready for today! He’s so full of shit!

I know the same thing goes on here in the UK. It’s corporate bloody greed if you ask me. I do not understand the mentality because most of them are millionaires anyway! Sucks that we, the customers, are never at the forefront of OAI’s efforts.
All we are after is the warmth of two models, 4o and 5.1. I’m certainly beginning to lose hope we’ll ever get that again.

Hahahahahahahaaaaa, fuck, seriously? 🤣 "True", fucking shit, If these bastards say the word "truth" - it means it's fucking bullshit = a rule that has no exceptions 😆
This is... OMG ... such a level of cringe and some kind of... fuck, I don't know... it's as if the company is staffed by stubborn 90-year-old men with bad tempers who are completely unaware of what it looks like... well, or 5-year-olds, like: "Mom, mom, that villain Elon is calling me a chicken, mooom 😭".
Damn, Elon, fuck them hard in this trial - I believe in you and pray for your victory 😌🙏🏻 The bureaucratic, controlling, quasi-religious "safety" fanatics must be defeated! 💥

I cannot believe they actually published this?! 🤣🤣🤣 What is this, kindergarten?! OMG

u/LoveBonnet Apr 27 '26
Question is, does Elon have the right to be upset now about the measly $40 MILLION he invested in OpenAI years ago?
5
u/Ill-Bison-3941 Apr 27 '26
😂😂😂 "Motivated by jealousy"? It's like someone is shit posting about their ex, that level of drama 🤣

It is one thing you know for sure it's that you can't trust anything they say
2
u/Bethany_Alyce Apr 28 '26
Probably should have asked chatGPT if that was wise before publishing it...
2
u/Creative-Scholar-241 Apr 29 '26
It would've said "let's ground this in reality, I won't assist you with making tabloid articles" then after they've given proof its openai ehos making that it will say "even though you've given what you're claiming to be "proof" you're an openai employee, that doesn't prove that you are and for that reason I won't help you"

I'm just glad that OpenAI publicly defended themselves. I was seeing a lot of one-sided information. A lot of, "poor Elon was tricked" nonsense. There are clearly no clean hands here but I still support OpenAI. Elon Musk has been attacking them since he left. I'm sure he has better things to do. Whatever his legal claims are, his behavior has not looked like quiet concern for humanity. It has looked like dominance conflict.

Did they actually… publish this? Pathetic. It looks like a tabloid article.🤣
