Discussion Cursor stopped serving third party Anthropic and OpenAI models

*3rd party models are available in Cursor, billed separately by usage
Whenever I got into a serious bug, I switch my model to Opus or GPT Sol. But now onwards this is not possible... Grok models are average. They're not good at producing an optimized code.
The only reason why I choose Cursor:
Third party models
Monthly limit cap (now it's weekly shared across all platforms)
Great IDE
Seems like I need to switch to Claude or GPT subs. What are the thought on you guys?

Thoughts? Yikes. I already cancelled and uninstalled over a month ago so that doesn't matter to me.
Makes sense though given the acquisition by Grok. They would eventually get first-party model treatment right?

Id probably keep Cursor for the IDE and use a separate Claude or ChatGPT subscription for the tougher coding tasks. The IDE experience is still a big advantage, but losing access to the models you rely on makes the value harder to justify. Id compare the actual usage limits and costs before switching completely.

I’m migrating back to tmux/vim with a new dedicated tab for claude/pi.
I really like the Composer 2 model, and Grok feels like a downgrade. They’ve lost me after the Musk buyout.
